Dear Team Canada Donor,

At the Canadian Olympic Foundation, it’s our mission to enable our next generation of Olympians to achieve their dreams – to stand on the podium at the Olympic Games.

Nicolas Laframboise is a 19-year-old snowboarder from Ste-Agathe-des-Monts, Quebec. He had his heart set on going to the Olympic Games in the future but needed to attend a World Cup event in New Zealand to further his snowboard dreams. For Nicolas and his coach, the cost was too much. He was going to have to pass, prolonging his journey to the Olympic Winter Games.

That’s where our donors stepped in. Thanks to donations to the Future Olympians Fund, Nicolas and his coach were given the funding they needed to enable them both to travel to New Zealand and compete against some of the best snowboarders in the world.

“The money we received allowed Nicolas to move up in the World Cup rankings,” said Mike Stastook, Nicolas’ head coach. “It will help him meet eligibility for the national team in the future and will help him continue to move through the Canada Snowboard high-performance stream, enabling him to hopefully reach his Olympic potential.”

Nicolas,“The Flying Raspberry” as he’s sometimes called, ended up in 4th place at the World Cup. Being only 19 years old, finishing 4th at a World Cup against many of the world’s best snowboarders proves that Nicolas has an exciting career ahead of him.

“This was one of the most memorable experiences of my coaching career, and it was the best snowboarding that Nic has done so far in his career.”

Without this funding, Nicolas’ snowboarding career could have been a completely different story.

Since then, Nicolas won gold in Italy at another World Cup event in Men's Big Air. This was his first ever podium, beating out some big names including Mark McMorris, who came in just behind Nicolas!

We are extremely grateful for your continued support. Your donations have allowed our next generation athletes to pursue their dreams of competing for Team Canada at the Olympic Games.
