It’s beginning to look a lot like spring as we turn the page to March! Read on for more information about our end of year performances, summer opportunities, and more Academy and Cincinnati Ballet happenings.

Youth Summer Programs

Kids Dance Camp

Kids Dance Camp 2022 is open for registration! This beloved summer program for dancers ages 4-8 offers week-long camps that explore dance, music and art through age-appropriate ballet classes, crafts, and other activities led by professional faculty. Kids Dance Camp is offered over the following three weeks:

June 6-10, 2022
June 13-17, 2022
August 1-5, 2022

We can't wait to continue dancing with you into the summer months! Kids Dance Camp is also an excellent opportunity for friends and loved ones to join who may be exploring dance for the first time. We look forward to welcoming lots of new and returning families to the Center for Dance this summer.

Summer Dance Workshop

New this season! Cincinnati Ballet’s Summer Dance Workshop is a week-long summer dance experience for young dancers ages 8 – 11 with at least one year of formal ballet training. Through daily engagement in ballet technique, exposure to diverse dance styles and specialty workshops, students will deepen their love of dance while building essential skills in a fun and creative space. Three weeks of Summer Dance Workshop will be offered this summer, and eligible students are encouraged to register for one or more weeks:

June 6-10, 2022
June 13-17, 2022
August 1-5, 2022

Priority registration begins this week for Otto M. Budig Academy students. Placement and registration links will be sent via email.

Youth Summer Intensive

Cincinnati Ballet’s Youth Summer Intensive provides young, aspiring dancers with an entrée into intensive summer training at a pace designed specifically for their unique stage of technical development. With three divisions for students in developing phases of their training, Youth Summer Intensive provides individual attention and custom instruction appropriate for each level’s unique needs. The program features daily classes in ballet and pointe (when applicable), instruction in other dance styles, as well as dance-related activities for students to delve deeper into all aspects of their dance training.

Students have the option to join our full four-week program or one of the two-week sessions:

4-Week Program: June 20 – July 1 + July 11 – 22, 2022
2-Week Program Session One: June 20 – July 1, 2022
2-Week Program Session Two: July 11 – 22, 2022

Now Hiring

Now Hiring! Summer Resident Leadership Team

Summer 2022 is shaping up to be an exciting year for our Summer Intensive and Collegiate Intensive, and we’re thrilled to have many of you joining us this summer at the Center for Dance! As we prepare to welcome dancers from across the country to Cincinnati, we are currently hiring interested adults and adult students for a variety of roles within our Summer Resident Leadership Team, including a Resident Housing Supervisor, Resident Advisors and Housing Interns, and Weekend Chaperones. Most roles are engaged from June 18 - July 30, 2022 (approximately). 

Spring Production

Spring Production 2022 is only a few months away and we have some important details to share as we prepare for our celebratory year-end production. This year’s performances will be held in the Corbett Theater at the School for Creative and Performing Arts (SCPA) on Friday, May 27, and Saturday, May 28, 2022.

A detailed email with additional rehearsal information and costume fitting dates will be sent mid-March.

Each Children’s Division class will perform in one of these three performances. A detailed email with which performance dancers will perform in and costume distribution dates will be sent in mid-March.


For All Performers
Spring Production choreography is now being taught during class time, so class attendance is critical to your student's success. Please note that excessive absences may affect students' eligibility to perform in Spring Production.

Communication is key! Please let us know if your student will have to miss a class by using our online Academy Absence Reporting Form or contacting the Academy at 513.562.1111 (select Option 1).

Family Observation Week will return this spring and additional details will be coming your way later this month. Please mark your calendars for April 25-30, 2022. 

Community Performance Series:
Aesop’s Fables

You’re invited to the Center for Dance on Sunday, March 20! Laugh and learn alongside our Professional Training Division dancers as they transform into the animals and creatures inspired by Aesop’s poignant stories of character and relationship. These performances are designed to welcome new audiences to dance through accessible storytelling, relatable themes, fun choreography, and community partnerships.

On Stage: Snow White

Who’s the fairest of them all? Find out in a regional premiere of our Family Series: Snow White at Proctor & Gamble Hall at the Aronoff Center. It’s the treasured fairy tale of a jealous Queen, her beautiful stepdaughter, and a kiss from a handsome Prince. Snow White is a narrated, fun, fully-staged ballet, featuring Cincinnati Ballet Second Company – CB2 dancers, Professional Training Division dancers, and Otto M. Budig Academy students. It’s the perfect introduction to dance, even for the youngest members of your family.
