CAC’s 2022 Gala was an evening to remember! Over 500 industry professionals and guests came together for the Architecture for All Gala. Honoree Lynn Osmond was presented with the first annual Lynn J. IN MEMORIAM

The Chicago Architecture Center mourns the passing of Brad Lynch, an impassioned designer, teacher and critic whose buildings have been consistently excellent and refreshing additions to our city and region. Influenced by Frank Lloyd Wright and Mies Van Der Rohe, Brad’s work carried aspects of both architects’ styles and rigor of practice. His career began as a construction and project manager for the restoration of several Wright homes.

Brad founded Brininstool+Lynch with David Brininstool in 1989. Examples of the firm’s reputation for exacting detail and quiet restraint include: the Racine Art Museum, single-family homes Wood House and Claremont House and high-rises at 550 St. Clair and 1345 S. Wabash, each bettering their environment and the user experience.

Brininstool+Lynch recently marked 30 years with the publication of a new monograph, Making Architecture, and a talk at the CAC. They also designed an exhibit for the CAC in 2005 showcasing innovative federal building projects. Brad and his firm have been true supporters of our mission as donors and active members. He affected many through his civic engagement and kind-hearted nature and will be greatly missed. Read more about Brad’s legacy in this Architect Magazine obituary and by visiting brininstool-lynch.com.
