As we continue to highlight our most memorable moments of 2022, many of our favorites come from working to find new ways to reach even more people in our community.
You may have heard about our Paramount Education team’s programs: the Story Wranglers who bring 3rd graders’ original writing to life in a stage production at their school; student field trips to expertly curated family shows at the Paramount that include in-classroom workshops and interactive study guides; summer camps that end with performances on our historic stages…
In addition to those programs for Central Texas youth and families, we have enhanced our existing Access to the Arts program to reach even more people – no matter their age. You can help share the arts with local youth and nonprofit organizations with a year-end gift.
For over three decades, our nonprofit has provided complimentary tickets to young audiences and students. When we established Paramount Education in 2008, we expanded the offerings of reduced or no cost access to include our award-winning programs such as summer camps, arts-integrated creative writing, and special events to connect student artists to professional artists.
In the photo above, Ann Richards School Choir Program students attend the September installment of Carrie Rodriguez’ Laboratorio, a musical exploration and celebration of Latinx culture and its contribution to the American experiment where no show is ever the same.
THIS JUST IN: We are partnering with Austin Artist Project & Mela Sarajane Dailey in January to bring 200 students to the first Laboratorio show of the new year!
Along with complimentary tickets, our revamped Access to the Arts program also brings nonprofits and community partners—in addition to youth audiences we had already been serving—closer to our artists.
Just this month, jazz students from both Huston-Tillotson and UT Austin had the incredible opportunity to see Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra’s sound check with Dianne Reeves and Samara Joy, complete with a private Q&A. We then hosted writing nonprofits at an enthralling, sold out evening with The Moth, and members from local film and LGBTQIA+ groups took in a hilarious, joyous night at A John Waters Christmas. In November, we hosted over 200 members from community and nonprofit organizations at the electrifying and interactive Step Afrika! dance show.
Connect more people in our community to life-enhancing arts by making a gift today.
With incredible support from the Tejemos Foundation, we are also bringing transformative conversations with history-makers and leaders in social change to the Paramount…with over half of the entire auditorium reserved for community and nonprofit groups!
It all started with a grant from Tejemos Foundation for our historic evening with Gloria Steinem and Margaret Atwood in April that provided over 600 complimentary tickets for Austin-area students, social justice, women’s studies and journalism groups, and nonprofits focused on healthcare, equity, and diversity.
We are thrilled to team up with Tejemos Foundation to do this again for our evening with American political activist, professor, and author Angela Davis on February 1, 2023.
Thank you for helping us work to ensure that EVERYONE in our community gets the opportunity to experience life-changing arts in Texas.
