Hi Everyone,
It’s been a busy old time as spring and new shows seem to pushing through everywhere! We have been delighted with the response to Jonathan Larkin’s new play Cherry Jezebel, and are overjoyed to welcome Frodsham’s favourite son Gary Barlow to the Playhouse this week. Coupled with YEP taking to the stage in their 10 year anniversary show Tap Tap, and two new studio shows, it certainly feels alive on Hope Street and Williamson Square!

- Cherry Jezebel is all about Queer Liverpool,
conversations and celebration. Tomorrow, Sat 19 Mar at 4pm, we’re delighted to be
working with Homotopia for the panel discussion Queer Liverpool - Then and Now. Tickets are free, and
panellists include Joan Burnett, Dan
Chan, Roger Hill and Kolade T Ladipo, and the event will be chaired by Char Binns,

after the panel, enjoy the smooth jazz of Nature Boy from 5pm – all for FREE in
the street café
- Independent Producer Alex Ferguson, The Unity and ourselves will be hosting the Commercial Theatre Producer’s Charity Stage One at the Unity Theatre, for the Producers Get Together this Thu 24 Mar at 6pm. This is an opportunity to meet loads of other producers, chat to people about their experiences producing, and also there will be some information presented about the Stage One opportunities and the Bridge the Gap scheme. This is a chance to learn all about commercial theatre producing, and how to get into it. it’s also just a nice chance for producers working in the subsidised world to hear about it all! Sign up here

is once more seeking the best new plays and the most talented early career
playwrights in the world. The winning playwright will receive the £6,000 Carne
Prize including an advance towards a guaranteed production at Theatre503 and

- Valley Theatre
in Netherley are excited to launch FestiValley 2022, 3 nights of original drama at Valley Theatre,
Fri, Sat & Sun 27, 28 & 29 May. They want to showcase the
fantastic facilities this great little theatre can offer as well as encourage
and showcase the talents of local writers. The festival will comprise of two
evenings of adult drama and Youth Theatre event. The festival panel are looking
for short plays of between 20 -30 minutes, plus pieces of 10 – 15 minutes
length approximately for the Youth theatre. Prizes will be awarded to the best

- Homotopia are looking for two performers,
18 – 35, with lived experience of LGBTQIA relationships for a rehearsed reading
of the Homotopia Writer’s Award winning play ‘A Billion Times I Love You’ by
Patrick MaGuire, presented by Homotopia and Everyman New Works. No formal
training is required, and we encourage new, early career and emerging
performers. We strongly
encourage those who are underrepresented in the LGBTQIA arts, such as D/deaf,
disabled and QTIPOC individuals to apply. Must be available 5 & 6 May in Liverpool, Fee £200. Please send a Spotlight/CV and a show reel if
you have one to creative@homotopia.net with the title ‘A Billion Times I Love
You Application’.

- Last week we launched out new season of studio new
work with six brilliant monologues from local working-class writers in Finger
Food Shorts, next week we welcome Chase Johnston-Lynch, Kai Jolley and Sharon
Colpman with Proud Daddy, following group of Black
Fathers on a journey of self-discovery, celebrating culture, fatherhood and
friendship. All work that is staged in the Playhouse Studio is new writing,
