Join our educators for a day out at Rippon Lea Estate in Elsternwick. Students will be transported back to the 1880s, a time when children should be seen and not heard, and before electricity! Throughout the day, students participate in four activities designed to highlight the similarities and differences between life in the 1800s and now. Students will discover the opulence of the Sargood family’s mansion, and in contrast, the hard work required of their 35 servants.
This full day program is a perfect introduction to history and learning about the past, it utilises object and place-based learning to encourage students to take part in history.
This program is also available at Como House (South Yarra) and Barwon Grange (Geelong).
