Art Helps Us See What Is Possible
There are many times we take for granted what is right in front of us—many times that we can look at something without truly seeing it for what it is. This pandemic, and the profound loss we all experienced during it, has made us aware of what really matters.
What really matters is having a space to process and express our emotions, from the events of the last two years to our deepest hopes, dreams, fears, and desires.
What really matters is having a space to free our minds and imagine not only a different future but a different world.
What really matters is having a space where everyone belongs.
At Montalvo, what really matters to us is being the place where all of the above is possible and more—a place where we can change and enrich the lives of all people through the power of the arts in all their forms. In the time of shelter-in-place and increased visibility around the chronic injustices towards Black, Indigenous, and other marginalized people, Montalvo began a critical transformation. As part of our newly implemented strategic plan, our focus is promoting diversity and accessibility throughout the organization, so that you can experience a culture of belonging.
As 2021 comes to a close, we hope you'll consider making a donation today to support our goal in becoming a more accessible, equitable, and belonging institution.

Creative Holiday Fun: Chalk the Walk
Our Holiday Chalk the Walk event originally scheduled for this Sunday has been moved due to inclement weather in the forecast. We hope you'll join us next Sunday, December 19 between 10am & 2pm as we fill the sidewalks surrounding our Charmaine’s Garden Terrace with unique and exciting chalk art! Holiday music will be played and hot chocolate will be served.
Montalvo staff and volunteers will be onsite to provide instruction on how to enter, create, and view the space. We'll provide the chalk (but you can bring your own if you wish 😊), and we welcome and support any form of chalk experience and artists. Be sure to snap photos of your art and tag us on Instagram @montalvoarts!
