A musical thank you, a 2026 preview, and some big news for schools

Hello,

As the autumn term draws to a close, we wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who has visited us this term. From music workshops and building tours to this year’s brilliant Careers Morning, we’ve absolutely loved welcoming you. Pupils have explored open rehearsals, djembe drumming, Afro-Cuban rhythms, storytelling through music and music technology. In total we’ve welcomed over 400 students and teachers through our doors so far this term.

If you missed out this time, don’t worry our Careers Morning returns on 6 March 2026, giving KS3 and KS4 students another chance to meet the people who make the music happen, from performers and producers to sound engineers, programmers and marketing minds.

We’re also getting ready for another joyful summer term of singing together, with Big Sing for KS2–3 and Big Sing for Mini Singers for F&KS1 now open for enrolment. Places are already filling fast, so if booking is on your “to do list”, this is a gentle nudge to get it ticked off. And of course, there’s still time to book your bespoke School Visit package for later this academic year too.

Alongside this, Royal Northern Sinfonia are bringing big orchestral adventures to young audiences. Their brand-new schools concert Sounds of the Deep is now open for bookings, and with £5 Under 17s tickets available on selected concerts, it’s an affordable way to introduce pupils to the magic of live orchestral music.

We also wanted to share how encouraged we are by the recent curriculum and assessment review announcement and the government’s response. It’s fantastic to see the Ebacc removed and equal value being placed on the Arts as part of a modernised curriculum. It's a really positive step for children and young people and here at The Glasshouse, we’ll continue to support schools with high-quality, curriculum-relevant musical experiences that make planning easier and learning richer.

Finally, we’re pleased to help share a great opportunity from our partners at Shape Gateshead. Schools can now get involved in their Youth Festival grant scheme and Cultural Ambassador network, offering funding and creative opportunities for pupils and CPD for educators. You can find full details here.

Scroll down to explore what’s coming up this spring – we’d love to welcome you and your pupils.
