Art on the Block

Mother's Day Brunch

May 12, 11am and 1pm

Mother’s Day is coming quick – treat Mom to the best with our Mother’s Day Brunch!

Indulge in our delicious buffet (featuring a Chef-attended roast Baron of Beef carving station), enjoy various art activations and strike a pose at our picture-perfect photo backdrop! Also, general admission to our galleries is included, so you can experience stunning art during your visit.

There are two seating times available: 11am and 1pm.

Weekend Art Class | Portraits

Starting May 4, 1-3pm
Ages 13-17

Hey teens – explore portraiture in this 6-week session! Each week, work alongside an artist to create a series of stylistic portraits and experiments using a wide range of materials and techniques. Practice and play with proportion, form, shading and more to master this popular genre.  

Please note: There are no classes May 18.

Film Night – Asian Heritage Month

May 9, 6-10pm

In recognition of Asian Heritage Month, we are screening two documentaries featuring artists Ushio and Noriko Shinohara and Ai Weiwei. Watch either film for $10 or both films for $15.

6pm: Cutie and the Boxer (2013) explores the chaotic 40-year marriage of famed boxing painter Ushio Shinohara and his wife, Noriko.  

7:30pmAi Weiwei: Never Sorry (2012documents the life of Chinese artist and activist Ai Weiwei, who is among the world’s most celebrated contemporary artists.

Cinema for Seniors

May 10, 2-4pm

Are you a senior looking for unique art experiences, love film and meeting fellow life-long learners? Join us for Cinema for Seniors in our Ledcor Theatre, followed by a discussion, tea and treats. 

Tickets are $5 or free with our Barrier Free ticket.

About the film:  Cutie and the Boxer (2013) is a candid New York love story explores the chaotic 40-year marriage of famed boxing painter Ushio Shinohara and his wife, Noriko. Anxious to shed her role as her overbearing husband's assistant, Noriko finds an identity of her own.
