PROGRAM NOTES | Nationally touring artists, THE COATS are the Pacific Northwest's premiere a cappella band. This December, The Coats return to Benaroya Hall for their annual holiday show. The Coats vocal band started on the street corners of Seattle's famous Pike Place Market. Singing for tourists, locals, fish vendors, and fellow buskers, their humble ambitions of earning a few clams to fight off the tuition bills quickly evolved into a full-time international performance career.

PROGRAM NOTES | The time for awe inspiring music is coming this December with Pacific Lutheran University's annual Christmas concert presentation. The showcase piece for the 2012 Christmas performances is a new work written by PLU professor David Deacon-Joyner entitled, "Unto Us." Please join Pacific Lutheran University's Choir of the West, the University Chorale and members of the University Symphony Orchestra in what has become one of the region's most inspirational Christmas celebrations.

PROGRAM NOTES | MIRANDA JULY is a filmmaker (The Future, Me and You and Everyone We Know), artist (Eleven Heavy Things at the 2009 Venice Biennale) and writer (It Chooses You). Her videos, performances and web-based projects have been presented at MOMA, the Guggenheim Museum, and in two Whitney Biennials. Her fiction has appeared in The Paris Review, Harper's, and The New Yorker. SAL thanks Robin Held, Executive Director of Reel Grrls, for being the guest host at Miranda July's presentation.
