Brimming with passion, Dear England (Tue 23 – Sat 27 September) is an Olivier Award winning and brilliantly powerful play from one of today’s most acclaimed writers, James Graham, a former member of staff here at the Theatre Royal whose roots are very much from Nottinghamshire. The show talks about masculinity, it talks about identity – both individually and as a nation but you don’t have to be a fan of the beautiful game to enjoy it; you’ll be swept away by the gripping and heartfelt narrative, full of hope and compassion. It’s funny, it’s poignant, it’s entertaining and it’s beautifully written and observed. This is event theatre at its finest and the scale and theatricality of this production makes it a must-see show for everyone.

Making its East Midlands debut following triumphant runs in London, this fast-paced, witty drama tells the story of how Gareth Southgate’s leadership transformed the England men’s football team. David Sturzaker plays former England manager Gareth Southgate and is joined on stage by Samantha Womack (Eastenders, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, The Addams Family & The Girl on the Train) as team psychologist Pippa Grange.
