These events have been available in a presale to Montalvo donors all week, and many of them are filling up quickly -- so if you're eyeing any shows, be sure to get tickets today before they sell out!
On Friday, July 19 at 6pm, join us for a free festival celebrating a series of new textile works throughout our grounds! Threads: Weaving Humanity will feature interactive art activities, live dance performances, food, and fun -- all together on a fabulous summer night at Montalvo.
The newly-commissioned works on view by artists Hellen Ascoli, Yasmin Jahan Nupur, Sudnya Shroff, and RoCoCo will use braiding, stitching, patching, and mending as a metaphor for weaving the threads of our diverse communities into a shared social fabric.
Performances presented by Sangam Arts will include Charlene Eigen-Vasquez, Calpuli Tonalequeh, San Jose Taiko, Oriki Theater, New Ground Theatre Dance, Xpressions, Yang Yang Dance. In addition, Ramekon O’Arwister will present Crochet Jam, an art-making event that will engage the public to consider the power of art in society.
On Wednesday, June 19 at 6pm, you're invited to explore the landscape of Montalvo and its natural palette in a summer evening class on Contemporary Floral Design: Color Theory.
The pieces created in this workshop will complement our unique property in their color and texture, using seasonal plants, flowers, and seeds. Instructor Amanda Borges will teach you about native plants and how to incorporate foraged foliage into your designs. You'll learn how to create beautiful color palettes that will work for any occasion!
