Celebrating 50 Issues of CAC@Home

MARKING A CAC@HOME MILESTONE

We're celebrating 50 editions of CAC@Home! To show our appreciation of the CAC community, we want to share a letter from CAC President and CEO Lynn Osmond, who is celebrating 25 years with CAC this month! We are also opening our program vault to some of our most beloved programs featured in the past 50 issues.

From the desk of CAC President and CEO Lynn Osmond

It’s hard to overstate the profound changes brought about by global pandemic over the past 20 months. In our own little way, CAC adapted to bring the experience of architecture and design to your doorstep—or, more precisely, your computer screen.

During this unprecedented time, we knew how important it was to remain connected with our public—and to deliver a steady diet of enriching content to help blunt the social isolation. That's why we started CAC@Home in March 2020 and quickly organized virtual programming and tours, wrote articles, and offered activities for the whole family. Fifty issues later (!) CAC@Home has become the primary connection point for the entire CAC community, sharing the good work of our staff and docents.

ELEVATED ARCHITECTURE: "L" TRAIN DOWNTOWN TOUR

From CAC Docent Matt Sheffer

Chicago's most iconic feature is its elevated train, so what better way to explore Chicago's amazing architecture than by riding the "L"? Join us on a trip around the Loop, where we'll view many of the city's most impressive buildings, sampled from across Chicago's history. Not only will we see some fantastic locations but we'll also explore the history of the "L." Learn about the colorful Robber Baron who single-handedly created the Loop that defines downtown Chicago - all while gaining a unique perspective of important buildings that often go unnoticed by tourists and unappreciated by locals.
