Congratulations to CAC Industry Council member bKL Architecture, recipient of AIA Chicago’s 2020 Firm of the Year Award. This award, a 29-year tradition, honors collective achievement, excellence in work, and ongoing contributions to the advancement of architecture. AIA Chicago presents the award to bKL at its Annual Meeting and Professional Excellence Awards today, December 15, at 4pm.

Founded by Thomas Kerwin in 2010, bKL now numbers more than 80 passionate designers and practitioners with expertise in a variety of markets and project types. Even through significant challenges of the past decade, from recessions to a global pandemic, bKL has been able to adapt, grow and thrive. Attentiveness to its staff development, community needs and diversity—alongside a commitment to design excellence—have propelled bKL to the forefront.

Earlier this fall, AIA Chicago also recognized the CAC itself, with a citation of merit in interior architecture presented to CAC Industry Council member Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture. Read Blair Kamin’s coverage for the Chicago Tribune of the 65th annual Design Excellence Awards.
