Celebrity Series at Home

May 5: One day until Season Launch!

Dear Friends,

We are so excited to launch the 2020-2021 season tomorrow and thank you for your continued support of everything the arts offer—a sense of community, the thrill of watching music and dance come alive in front of our eyes, and the feeling of joy we share after a moving performance.

We think you’ll be excited about next season, too, and assure you that the health of our community is our highest priority as we monitor the guidelines about public gatherings.

In the meantime, we offer a few more sneak peeks at next season and the continuation of our Celebrity Series at Home digital concert series. Let us know where you are finding inspiration using #CelebritySeriesAtHome on social media and tag us @celebrityseries.

Taylor Mac

Taylor Mac Performs 'People Have The Power'

In 2016, playwright and performance artist Taylor Mac took audiences for an incredible journey: a 24-hour marathon performance of his Pulitzer-nominated A 24-Decade History of American Popular Music. Each hour, devoted to one decade dating back to 1776, explores the social history of the United States and its disparate communities through popular songs. Get a taste of all the decades in the abridged version in October at the Emerson Colonial Theatre, and preview the 1980s in Mac's rendition of Patti Smith's "People Have the Power" from the Late Show with Stephen Colbert

Pianist Sir András Schiff

András Schiff - Bach. Overture in French Style in B minor BWV831

Sir András Schiff returns in March 2021 with a solo recital of Bach, Beethoven, Haydn, and Schubert in Jordan Hall, for his seventh solo recital and eighth appearance on the Series. Listen to his performance of Bach's Overture in the French Style in B minor, which will open his program.

Shaw Pong Liu

Violinist and composer Shaw Pong Liu performed a Facebook Live concert on Friday night. She performed on the violin and erhu, and performed some of her original songs. Her concert is now available for on-demand viewing at Facebook (no account required).
