The OC’s fall season continues to celebrate the vibrations of life together! We are grateful for an incredibly unique and valuable community that allows us to enjoy classical music and the CSO together. This community exists because of OC members like you! As we look forward to Chanticleer & Champagne, our December flagship event, we want to thank all who supported our great events this fall, including the Season Kick-Off Party, the OC and Generation-J Reception and the CSO MusicNOW Reception. Read on for more details about Chanticleer & Champagne, upcoming CSO concerts and numerous ways to get involved with an OC Committee!

Do you love organizing parties and other events (or want to learn how to do so)? Do you know the cool places to go around Symphony Center and across the city? Are you interested in working with other young professionals groups in Chicago and beyond? If so, please join us at Symphony Center for the next Joint Activities Committee Meeting on Thursday, December 8 at 6:30 p.m. The best part? After the meeting, the committee goes out for drinks! This powerhouse group features four of our committees that create events for the Overture Council:
· The Core Member Activities Committee (chaired by Matthew Fry) focuses on events like the Season Kickoff and Ending parties, Chanticleer & Champagne and the Symphony Ball afterparty.
· The External Relations Committee (chaired by Lauren Heufner) spends time exploring and developing collaborations with external cultural institutions and organizations across the greater Chicago area and beyond.
· The Internal Relations Committee (chaired by Caroline Yoo) coordinates with other CSOA family volunteer groups, including the African American Network, Civic Orchestra, Governing Members, Latino Alliance, the League, Negaunee Music Institute and the Women’s Board to build relationships and plan joint events.
· The Membership Committee (chaired by Leanne Zappia) aims to deepen relationships with existing OC members and expand the OC reach.
Members who join this committee get to have a hand in how OC events are planned and learn new skills (decorating, contract negotiations, stakeholder management — we’ve got it all). Join and help make the OC that you want to see!
You're invited to come and celebrate this year's holiday season in style at the Overture Council's annual winter party, Chanticleer & Champagne! Join us on Wednesday, December 7 at the Broken Shaker at Freehand Chicago, where members and their plus ones will be treated to a complimentary glass of bubbly along with a spread of snacks and treats.
This event will begin with Chanticleer's performance in the stunning Gothic Revival setting of the Fourth Presbyterian Church at 7:30 p.m. Concert attendance is not required to attend this event, but more information on the performance can be found here. Members of Chanticleer have also historically made an appearance at our after-party, so don't miss this special evening!
The Overture Council is looking for volunteers to help with the Crain-Maling Foundation CSO Young Artists Competition, presented annually by the League and the Negaunee Music Institute. The competition will be held at Symphony Center on Saturday, December 10 beginning at 8:30 a.m. Tasks include checking in competitors, monitoring practice rooms, timing performances and maintaining the green room. If you are interested in volunteering or would like to request more information, please reach out to Contest Co-Chair Christine Uhlig at christineuhlig@gmail.com.
As always, the CSOA has held a block of tickets for Overture Council members at the upcoming Civic Orchestra performance on Monday, December 19 at 8:00 p.m. Civic Orchestra performances are free to attend but require a reservation. Our OC block guarantees you have a seat and allows you to sit near fellow members!
If you are interested in attending, please RSVP by emailing forssanderj@cso.org.
