See the world’s greatest films on the iconic outdoor screens at Somerville and Joondalup Pines.
The magic of cinema and Perth’s luxuriously long hot summer provide the perfect blend for extraordinary Festival experiences. There is no better way to enjoy the works inspired by that enduring magic than at Somerville (UWA) and Joondalup Pines (ECU).
This stunning line-up of world cinema opens with Searching for Sugar Man (Somerville), a music-fuelled documentary about an unlikely American rock ’n’ roll hero, and the endlessly funny yet deeply moving Scottish heist film, The Angels’ Share (Joondalup Pines).
The hits just keep on coming! Our season also includes the heartfelt Western Australian film Satellite Boy; the emotionally resonant Sister from the Dardenne Brothers (The Kid with a Bike). The engrossing political drama, No, unfolding around Chile’s 1998 referendum on the Pinochet regime; the beautiful and poignant Amour, which won Michael Haneke his second Palme d’Or; and the transfixing drama About Elly from Iranian director Asghar Farhadi (A Separation).
Bring your friends, bring a picnic and enjoy the best that contemporary cinema has to offer under the stars. Films begin Sunday 25 November 2012. To view the program, please visit our website or request a Lotterywest Festival Films brochure.
