A huge thank you... and a look ahead to another musical year

As another busy school year comes to a close, we hope you're looking forward to a well-earned summer break. Before everyone switches off for the holidays, we wanted to say a huge thank you to every school, teacher and young person who has made music with us this year.

From school visits and workshops to Careers Morning, Big Sing, Big Sing for Mini Singers and our Royal Northern Sinfonia schools concert, it's been brilliant welcoming so many of you through our doors. We hope your pupils have left feeling inspired, curious and ready to keep making music.

So, before you close the laptop for summer, we thought we'd leave you with a few musical ideas for September. From brand-new opportunities and creative projects to key dates for 2027, here's a little inspiration to come back to when you're ready to start planning the new school year.

New for September - Music Spark Schools

Looking for a creative opportunity for young people who would benefit from exploring music in a relaxed, supportive environment?

Music Spark Schools is a brand-new weekly programme for young people aged 14+  with special education needs, combining singing, instruments, music technology and songwriting in a welcoming group where confidence can grow alongside musical skills.

Sessions take place at The Glasshouse every Friday during term time, with schools providing transport and pastoral support.



School visits – build your own adventure  

Bring learning to life with a trip to The Glasshouse. 

With hands-on workshops, behind-the-scenes tours and the chance to sit in on rehearsals, every visit can be tailored to suit your group’s age, interests, and curriculum goals. 

Whether it’s a short session or a full-day musical adventure, our team will help craft an experience that’s unique, educational and unforgettable.


Looking beyond the classroom?

If you have pupils who are keen to keep making music outside school, we'd love you to share our Weekend School Ensembles with families.

Whether they're into orchestras, bands, folk, jazz or contemporary music, there's a welcoming group where they can develop their skills, make friends and discover new musical opportunities.


Behind the music - our next careers morning

Careers Morning
Wednesday 11 November 2026

A behind-the-scenes look at careers in music and the creative industries for KS3 & KS4. Through conversations, Q&As and a backstage tour, students meet the people who make music happen and discover the many different careers the industry has to offer.

We’ll be opening bookings for November’s Careers Morning shortly. Please email schools@theglasshouseicm.org to find out more. 


Inclusive music-making with Orchestras for All

We are delighted to continue our partnership with Orchestras for All in 26-27. 

Their Modulo programme helps state secondary schools and community groups build inclusive, mixed-ability ensembles through bespoke repertoire, practical classroom resources, teacher CPD and an in-school workshop. Schools also come together to perform at The Glasshouse as part of two regional events.

Key dates
Deadline for applying is 6pm, 31 July 2026.  
Regional events: 11 March and 1 July 2027
Bursaries are available to help make the programme as accessible as possible.
