Blue hue to honour our health workers

In honour of the dedicated health workers everywhere, we're proud to join other organizations, such as the Shaw Centre and our federal museum partners, by lighting our building in blue.

While we remain closed, we continue to offer you online resources so you can engage with nature right from your home. Follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for regular posts.

The Wild Canadian Year: Spring

The award-winning nature documentary, The Wild Canadian Year, with its stunning photography of landscapes and wildlife, has been popular with our museum visitors. While you can't presently watch it on the big screen in our theatre, you can view the episodes of the four seasons online on CBC Gem as well as on the now free CBC Curio site. And while on Curio, be sure to check out videos from the Canadian Museum of Nature as well!

Behind the scenes
Whale ear bones

What does a whale ear look like? These amazing, shell-shaped bones are part of an incredible whale collection which includes 1,357 ear bones and blocks and 2,942 earplugs. Bones like these help scientists study whales in-depth: these ear bones led to a published paper (link) on how whales recover from ear injuries.
