Dear Patron,
I was born into a family of artistically talented people; voice, drama, dance and visual arts – all the mediums! From a young age, I was taught to appreciate the arts and more importantly participate in the arts. For me that included school and church choirs, plays and musicals, Greenville Little Theater Children’s productions and the Singing Christmas Tree.
Despite growing up in the arts, my true love and appreciation did not fully develop until I was asked to join the SCCT Board in 2010. Over a 10+ year period I served as Chairman of the Board and served on the Capital Campaign Cabinet for the new facility that we enjoy today! The opportunity to work with Debbie Bell and her staff was one of my greatest joys.
My sister Leigh Ann was considered a “triple threat” given that she could sing, dance and act – at the same time. Upon moving back to Greenville in the mid 90’s, Leigh Ann become involved in the (then) newly created South Carolina Children’s Theatre under the direction of Ric Standridge.
Leigh Ann found that the stage provided an outlet from real life where one could dream and live through characters different than herself. This was her passion and she wanted to share this passion with others. Upon her passing in 2005 at the age of 42, The Leigh Ann Daniels Memorial Endowment
was created at SCCT to provide access to the
theatre for youth that wouldn’t otherwise have the means to participate in the
educational opportunities the theatre provides.
SCCT continues to thrive today under amazing leadership and a tremendously talented staff. I am super proud of and continue to cherish my affiliation with SCCT.
As you consider your end-of-year charitable giving, I invite you to join me in supporting the South Carolina Children’s Theatre.
Gratefully,
