Be Part of the AGA Centennial Market

The deadline to apply for our AGA Centennial Market is tomorrow, July 5.

Taking place in 99th Street (adjacent to Churchill Square), this market is a great opportunity to showcase your work in our busy Arts District and sell your handmade art, and amazing one-of-a-kind products. This market is for artists and makers from the Albertan artist community.  

Summer Artbreak Camps

Need last minute kids camp plans this summer? You’re in luck! Our ArtBreak camps have limited availability, so act fast! There is plenty of room:

Photography (ages 13-17)

July 15-19, 9am-4pm

Visit our current exhibitions to discover how artists see the world, then experiment with a variety of photographic concepts in the studio that incorporate old and new technologies.  Please bring your own camera; all other materials are supplied by the AGA.

Time Travellers (ages 6-8, 9-12)

August 12-16, 9am-4pm

Delve into art from the past and present through current exhibitions to find out how artists use the concept of time in their work, and how art has changed over time from materials to ideas. Get inspired by work in the gallery, drop by Fort Edmonton Park and then create your own timeless masterpieces in the studio.

Graphic Fiction (ages 13-17)

August 12-16, 9am-4pm

Working alongside artists and illustrators, experiment with illustration and drawing techniques, mixed media collage, and silkscreen to create a collection of well-designed artworks such as zines, graphic novels, posters and more!  

Art Lab (ages 6-8)

August 19-23, 9am-4pm

Explore the AGA through in-gallery visits and go behind the scenes to learn about the science of museums. The studio will be your laboratory where you can experiment with paint, investigate art technologies and problem-solve through sculpture.

Open Mic Night Hosted by Shayne Giles from CKUA

July 11, 5-7pm

Join us and Shayne Guiles on the terrace for Open Mic Night, as part of a special performance series on the stage of Love Empire, an installation by Calgary artist August Klintberg.

Love Empire is organized with the National Gallery of Canada.

Cinema for Seniors

July 12, 2-4pm

Join us for a screening of Lay Down Your Love (2022), which will be followed by a lively discussion and refreshments. 

About the film: Lay Down Your Heart (2022), a documentary by Marie Clements, follows Niall McNeil, an artist and lifelong performer with Down syndrome. McNeil introduces his chosen family, with whom he shares a strong bond based on creative passion. Love and human connection are explored through Niall McNeil’s unique artistic perspective and talent.  

Love Empire | Hosted by The Polygot

July 11, 5-7pm

Join us and The Polygot on the terrace as part of a special performance series on the stage of Love Empire, an installation by Calgary artist August Klintberg.

About the Polygot: The Polyglot is a community hub, magazine, and publisher created out of an overwhelming urge to respect, promote, and celebrate heritage and Indigenous languages that are often ignored or neglected in the literary, art, and publishing worlds. Learn more.

Join us for this weekly art exploration for children ages 3-5 and their parents, consisting of playful activities, whimsical storytelling and hands-on art-making.

See how urban sketcher and artist Angie Sotiropoulos creates unique hand-bound sketchbooks. This demonstration takes place during our free admission hours.
