Look up and be dazzled! The unparalleled artistry of Louis Comfort Tiffany continues to amaze guests on CAC’s Tiffany in Chicago tour. No photograph can convey the brilliance of the dome in the Cultural Center, the vivid colors of the ceiling in the Marshall Field building, or the details of the mosaic in the Marquette Building. The sparkle of Tiffany glass is sure to warm you on a cold winter day. Learn about the life and work of Tiffany as we visit some of Chicago’s most magnificent art-glass and mosaic installations, each designed and crafted by the Tiffany Glass and Decorating Company.
Through December 19 only, stream the latest documentary on Helmut Jahn for free courtesy of MAS Context and the Goethe-Institut Chicago. Helmut Jahn: In a Flash, Berlin-based filmmaker Nathan Eddy's ode to the legendary late architect, premiered earlier this month at the Gene Siskel Film Center. Eddy is best known for documentaries including Battleship Berlin, Starship Chicago, and The Absent Column that have aided preservation efforts for endangered works of modern and postmodern architecture. Starship Chicago is currently on view at the CAC as part of the Thompson Center Ideas Competition.
As a nonprofit, CAC relies on charitable donations to make the world of architecture and design within reach – for everyone. Your tax-deductible, year-end donation provides critical resources so that the CAC can educate, inspire and engage young people about the importance of good design in building the sustainable and livable communities we want, need and deserve.
