HONOLULU, HAWAI‘I—On Feb. 27, visitors can celebrate the lunar new year at HoMA Nights: Year of the Fire Horse. From playing mahjong and feeding a dancing lion, to exploring two galleries of Chinese art and eating hand-pulled noodles by guest chef Andrew Pressler it will be a night of inspiring experiences.

The full lineup:
• Mahjong: The community mahjong club Bad Luck Club will have everything guests need to enjoy this game of skill, strategy and luck. Club members will be on hand to teach beginners and experienced players can start their own games in Palm Courtyard.
• Guest chef Andrew Pressler: Guest chef Andrew Pressler of Youpo Noodles in Chinatwon will take over the HoMA Café and serve his flavorful hand-pulled biang biang noodles. Diners can choose from duck, beef, cumin lamb, curry shrimp-and-pork, and mushroom-tofu.
• Lion Dance: The Sing Yung Dragon and Lion Dance Association performs the traditional lion dance at 7 p.m. in Central Courtyard.
• Live music: Nā Hōkū Hanohano Award-winning musician Sun Hui plays the erhu (aka Chinese violin) in Palm Courtyard and vocalist Jiayin sings a selection of songs inspired by the Crazy Rich Asians soundrack in Luce Pavilion.
• Chinese art: Guests can explore two galleries devoted to Chinese art, from bronze age sculpture to the contemporary work of Hung Liu (whose birthday is on Feb. 17—the start of the lunar new year!).
• Art activities: HoMA’s teaching artists Sami Isidro and Janet Tran guide visitors in making mahjong tile keychains out of acrylic panels and docent Elaine Imoto will facilitate a charm bar where guests can make personalized pieces to accessorize their keychains.
