Dear Music Maker Haciendo Música families,

While our afterschool programs have officially wrapped for 2024/25, the Bravo! Vail staff is brimming with excitement and anticipation for the upcoming Bravo! Vail Music Festival, running from June 19 to July 31. Experiencing live music is the greatest way to inspire the young musician in your life.

There are numerous opportunities for all ages to participate in the Festival. From our youngest audience members aged 2-7 at Little Listeners @ the Library, or at the Instrument Petting Zoo at Eagle Flight Days on June 27. Our developing musicians will continue their education through Summer Intensive, Young Musicians Summit, and at the returning Presto Club present during select Orchestra Concerts.

Summer is also a great time to start Private Music Lessons. How do you know if your student is ready? If a student is going to their instrument on a regular basis (almost every day) or you notice they cannot get enough music in their life or you have received a recommendation from their class teacher, then you may want to explore weekly private lessons. These are typically 30-60 minutes of time with an expert in their instrument that will provide technique, exercises, and pieces suited to advance your students abilities at a much quicker pace than the class environment. Check out our recommendations in this newsletter.

Bravo! Vail Presto Club

Enhance your child’s concert experience! Bravo! Vail Presto Club is an opportunity for students ages 8-14 to gather at select Orchestral Series concerts to socialize, engage with a designed interactive booklet during concerts, and participate in curated, post-concert Artist Meet & Greet opportunities. Students will be under the care and supervision of Education & Engagement staff.

  • Sit together on the lawn to enjoy concert with provided snacks and drinks or bring your own
  • Receive interactive booklet to help understand and engage with the concert
  • Invitation to post-concert Artist Meet & Greet
  • Meet new friends
  • Receive a Presto Club t-shirt

How to Participate

Purchase lawn tickets, or utilize your Student lawn pass, for the following concerts:

Drop off students before the concert and pick them up after (Parents or guardians must be in attendance at the concert in case of emergency.)

Summer Practice Tips

  • Attend and listen to all types of music performances. Bravo! Vail Presto Club Spotify Playlist
  • Pick a practice time that is next to an already set habit, like meal time or brushing your teeth.
  • If possible, take your instrument on vacation or outside to experience playing in different environments. Take a picture and send it to Education@BravoVail.org. We will post it on our social media to show “Where in the World” our students are practicing!
  • Review all your pieces from this past year and schedule an end of summer recital for a family event.
  • Record yourself once a week and take notes on what you think you could do better.
  • Create a soundtrack for your favorite story by making up sounds and tunes that go with that story.

Congratulations to Mars Arney

2025 Battle Mountain High School Graduate

Mars started playing cello in 6th grade and developed a love for both art and music well into high school. As a member of the Teen Chamber Ensemble since January, Mars has brought an admirable element of persistence and an impeccable sense of rhythm. We are so glad you followed your heart and joined the ensemble in your last semester of high school! Mars is graduating from Battle Mountain High School and will be pursuing Political Science, Environmentalism and Law and hopes to continue playing the cello.

Congratulations to Nyx Stewart

2025 Eagle Valley High School Graduate

Nyx began playing violin at 6 years old. In Fall 2017 Nyx connected with a private instructor and began working with Bravo! Vail at that time. Nyx participated in Violin groups and eventually played in the Violin Quartet through Bravo! Vail, which eventually became the Teen Chamber Ensemble. Over the last several years, Nyx has also participated in Bravo! Summer Intensives and Young Musicians Day. 

Over the last 8 years of participation in Bravo! Vail programs, we have witnessed Nyx setting an example of excellence to our younger students through kindness, attention to detail, encouraging words and optimistic attitude. Every rehearsal you can hear and see Nyx interacting positively with other students, showing them that the challenges they are facing, the problems they are trying to solve all have an answer that is achievable with effort and persistence. Thank you for your years of noticing and embracing others along your journey. 

Nyx is graduating from Eagle Valley High School and will be attending NYU participating in the Liberal Studies Core, with the first year spent at NYU's London Campus. He is planning to pursue a Liberal Arts course of study and will continue to grow in music studies.

Congratulations to Rennick Williams

2025 Battle Mountain High School Graduate

Renn has always loved the arts in all capacities, whether that be music, illustration, painting, writing, or sculpting. However, in exploring all those mediums, he will tell you that music has had the most impact on who he is as a person, and the best way to express his ideas. Renn began playing cello in middle school, and then during his junior year at Battle Mountain, began private lessons and playing in the Teen Chamber Ensemble as well as participating in the 2024 Young Musicians Day. Again, Renn will say that the experience playing in a string ensemble with an excellent conductor and musicians who were held to an expectation of intense practice and quality of playing was transformative. His deeper appreciation for playing the cello and how music can unite a community has inspired him to make it a larger, continuous part of his life. 

Since joining the ensemble, Rennick has shown incredible growth as a musician with an instinctual understanding of rhythmical structure and harmonic progression. 

Rennick is graduating Battle Mountain High School May 31, having attended Eagle County Schools, K-12. He is attending Montana State University in Bozeman in the fall, majoring in Environmental Sciences and minoring in Music.

Trygg Myran
$2,000 for summer music camp

Trygg Myran just finished his sophomore year at Battle Mountain High School where he is fully involved in the music department orchestra, band, jazz band, choir and theatre programs. With Music Makers Haciendo Música, Trygg has participated in Teen Chamber Ensemble, Piano & String Ensemble, Summer Intensive, Young Musicians Day, has served as a Teachers Assistant with the Beginner Chamber Ensemble, is current President of the Teen Council and has assisted with Presto Club.

“I am truly honored to have been selected for this award. This money will allow me to attend the Colorado Chamber Music Institute's summer program. Bravo! Vail has done so much for me and my musicianship. I hope to one day be able to pay back the kindness Bravo! Vail has shown me.”

Logan Shiao
$1,500 to attend summer music camp and take private lessons.

Logan Shiao is currently homeschooled and is a member of the Music Makers Haciendo Música Teen Chamber Ensemble, Piano & Strings Ensemble, participated in Young Musicians Day, takes weekly private lessons and is assisting his younger sister with lessons.

“I really appreciate the chance to apply for this scholarship, and I am very excited I was accepted. Thank you to all the people at Bravo! Vail for helping me through my musical journey! This scholarship will allow me to fund private lessons and music camps so that I can grow more through the violin.”

William Heinz
$1500 to attend summer music camp

William Heinz just graduated from Berry Creek Middle School and will be attending Battle Mountain High School in the Fall. He is a current member of the Teen Chamber Ensemble but has also participated in the Berry Creek Middle School Orchestra for the last three years. Will attended the Colorado Suzuki Institute for 2023 and 2024 and plans to attend both Young Musicians Summit and the Rocky Ridge Music Camp.

“I am so honored and excited to have been selected for this award. This will allow me to attend Rocky Ridge Music Camp this summer!”

Instituted in 2016, the Bravo! Vail Music Award supports and extends opportunities for students to pursue musical studies of the highest caliber. Recipients will have displayed commitment, dedication, and excellence in their musical studies. The goal of the award is to provide financial assistance to a student in their pursuit of serious high-level music studies in an accredited program, camp, academic institution, or another similar setting, or to assist with the costs of purchases of instruments, software, or other materials essential to the student’s continued musical studies.

Estimadas familias de Music Maker Haciendo Música,

Nuestros programas extracurriculares han concluido oficialmente para 2024/25, pero en Bravo! Vail el personal está rebosante de emoción y anticipación por el próximo Bravo! Vail Music Festival, del 19 de junio al 31 de julio. Experiencia con la música en vivo es la mejor manera de inspirar al joven músico en tu vida.

Bravo! Vail Presto Club

¡Mejora la experiencia de concierto de tu hijo! Bravo! Vail Presto Club es una oportunidad para estudiantes de 8 a 14 años de edad para reunirse en conciertos selectos de la Orchestral Series, socializar, interactuar con un folleto interactivo diseñado durante los conciertos y participar en encuentros con artistas curados después del concierto. Los estudiantes estarán supervisados con personal de Education & Engagement.

Felicidades a Mars Arney

Graduado de la Escuela Secundaria Battle Mountain 2025

Felicitaciones a Nyx Stewart

Graduada de la Escuela Secundaria Eagle Valley 2025

Nyx comenzó a tocar el violín a los 6 años. En el otoño de 2017, Nyx se conectó con un instructor privado y comenzó a trabajar con Bravo! Vail en ese momento. Nyx participó en grupos de violín y eventualmente tocó en el Cuarteto de Violines a través de Bravo! Vail, que eventualmente se convirtió en el Ensamble de Cámara Juvenil. 

Durante los últimos varios años, Nyx también ha participado en los Intensivos de Verano de Bravo! y el Día de Jóvenes Músicos. Felicidades a Rennick Williams

Renn siempre ha amado las artes en todas sus capacidades, ya sea música, ilustración, pintura, escritura o escultura. Vail ha hecho tanto por mí y mi musicalidad. Espero algún día poder devolver la amabilidad que Bravo! Vail me ha mostrado."

Logan Shiao
$1,500 to attend summer music camp and take private lessons.

Logan Shiao actualmente recibe educación en casa y es miembro del Conjunto de Cámara Teen de Music Makers Haciendo Música, del Conjunto de Piano y Cuerdas, participó en el Día de Jóvenes Músicos, toma lecciones privadas semanales y está ayudando a su hermana menor con las lecciones.

"Aprecio mucho la oportunidad de postularme para esta beca y estoy muy emocionado de haber sido aceptado. Gracias a todas las personas de Bravo! Vail por ayudarme en mi viaje musical! William Heinz 
$1500 para asistir al campamento de música de verano

William Heinz acaba de graduarse de la escuela secundaria Berry Creek y asistirá a la escuela secundaria Battle Mountain en el otoño.
