Celebrate the Holidays with the AGA

Holiday Light Up

Downtown Business Association's Holiday Light Up!


Saturday, December 18,  12-8pm


The holiday season is here! The AGA is celebrating by participating in the Downtown Business Association’s Holiday Light Up! The event takes place from 12-8pm with AGA art activites happening from 1-3pm. Join us in Churchill Square and learn how to weave a snowflake with yarn and enjoy the giant holiday tree. Light up your holiday season with a safe and reimagined tradition.

In anticipation of Holiday Light Up, the AGA is pleased to announce that we will be extending our hours to 11am-8pm on Saturday, December 18. This applies to ShopAGA hours however, Art Rental &Sales hours will remain unaffected staying at 11am-5pm.

Collecting Colour – Lecture on the Forbes Pigment Collection at Harvard University
with Dr. Narayan Khandekar

Join us on December 14th for a lecture by Professor Narayan Khandekar from Harvard University, who will speak about the world-famous Forbes Pigment Collection, which houses 2,700 historical and important colours from around the globe. These pigments are actively used by conservation scientists at the Harvard Art Museums, who rely on the sample for testing and reference material. This lecture is part of the public program for our new exhibitions that celebrate colour ROYGBIV and Soak Stripe Splatter: Collecting Colour at the AGA. We hope you will join us, as we learn about the pigments that make up the backbone of the art on display at the AGA and worldwide.

You can participate in this free hour-long program online by watching our Zoom Livestream or Facebook Livestream. Advance registration is required. After the lecture, there will be time for a live Q&A with the audience.

The AGA runs week-long camps designed especially for students aged 6–12, each camp features a new theme aimed to connect students with art and ideas.

AGA ArtBreak Camps empower campers take the lead in these exploratory programs to discover the world around them through art activities, exercises and projects related to specific themes. Focusing on student interactions and personal experiences, these camps create bridges between art, ideas and our community.    

Join us for an investigation of nature, landscapes, graphic and structural design alongside our regular artful adventures and delightful surprises! Each week, we explore one of these themes, visit current exhibitions, experiment in the studio and discover the art, neighbourhoods and green spaces around the gallery.

Looking for the perfect gift this season? We have you covered! Using paint, ink, model magic and more, create a one-of-a-kind gift for yourself or someone special. Then, make a card and wrapping paper to complete.

All Day Sundays at the AGA provide families the opportunity to spend the afternoon exploring art and ideas connected to current exhibitions. With programs and projects scheduled throughout the day, families can stay for a while or drop in for a quick visit. All Day Sunday activities include hands-on art-making, storytelling, performances, Gallery visits and collaborative projects.

The Art Hive

Join AGA educators and students from St. Stephen’s College Art Therapy program in the art studio Art Hive; a weekly community-based art making initiative that is FREE and open to all, every Thursday from 12-1pm.
