Clef Notes — October 2022

Dear Overture Council Members,

With the start of a new season here, it's hard not to get excited and think of all the possibilities available to us in 2022/23. This season, the OC will continue to combine our classic events (Soundpost, Chanticleer & Champagne, etc.) with exciting new opportunities to discover how music enhances our lives and everything around us. Being able to experience and explore all of this with you, the wonderful OC community, and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra is a unique and special opportunity.

We cannot wait to share the vibrations in Symphony Center with you again! With that, we invite you to take in the view from your favorite seats in Orchestra Hall, discover a concept at Soundpost that will spark a new way of thinking about sound and listening, and celebrate all things classical music with new and existing friends in the CSO's young professionals' organization!

The Executive Committee

OC Spotlight: 2022/23 Executive Committee

We are excited to introduce our incoming Executive Committee members for the 2022/23 Season:

  • Leah Williams, President-Elect
  • Matthew Fry, Core Member Activities Chair
  • Lauren Huefner, External Relations Chair
  • Aileen Markovitz, Communications Chair
  • Amy Fallon, Secretary

Our incoming chairs join the following Executive Committee members who are continuing their terms for a second season: Kim Ellwein and Chris Springthorpe (Soundpost Co-Chairs), Caroline Yoo (Internal Relations Chair), Leann Toomey (Social Media Chair) and Leanne Zappia (Membership Chair).

We'd also like to recognize the Executive Committee members who completed their term last season, including Leah Williams (Core Member Activities), Anatoliy Mushtuk and Khrystyna Musiy (External Relations Co-Chairs) and Aileen Markowitz (Communications).

We are ever thankful for our Executive Committee members, individual committee members and OC general members who keep this community going. We’d also like to thank this year's Nominating Committee for all their hard work and time during this election process.

Marking both the start of the 25th season of CSO MusicNOW and its return to Symphony Center, Mead Composer-in-Residence Jessie Montgomery and musicians from the Chicago Symphony Orchestra unite to perform works by kindred spirits Alvin Singleton and Carlos Simon. Among the works featured are Singleton’s experimental and improvisational Be Natural for three bowed stringed instruments and Simon’s whimsical and wildly syncopated Lickety Split for cello and piano.

Once signed in and after selecting two tickets to any CSO MusicNOW performance, your cart will automatically adjust to $0.
