Giving remembrance, recognition, honour and validation to the thousands of innocent children that nobody is able to recognize as they stand amongst their fellow residential school students in the photographs… these children are finally acknowledged, and work begins to recognize and remember these lost souls.
In 2021, the Edmonton Art Club (EAC) is celebrating their 100th anniversary as the oldest continuing art organization in Alberta. Founded in 1921, the EAC has been instrumental in helping to lay the foundation for the development of visual arts in the province. In commemoration of this significant milestone, the AGA’s exhibition Making Art, Building Community: 100 Years of the Edmonton Club will take a broad view of the Club’s past, including a selection of previous members whose work spans diverse media, subject matter and style.
Organized by the Art Gallery of Alberta and curated by Danielle Siemens. Presented by ATB Financial.
Do you have artwork by the Edmonton artist Sidney Kelsie? Works that you share will help us with an upcoming exhibition featuring his work. If you have a work by Kelsie, please take a photo of it and send us an email with your name and phone number to curatorial@youraga.ca. All responses will be kept confidential.
