April Monthly Newsletter

As we head into the final stretch of the Academy Year, read on for important updates and upcoming opportunities in April.

Academy Spring Break

Don’t forget: The Academy's Spring Break is April 11-17!

There will be no classes held in Children’s, Preparatory, Community, Young Dancer, or Advanced Divisions during this week. (Professional Training Division and Adult Division classes will still meet.)

During the break, our administrative team will have more limited desk time, so we thank you for your patience in awaiting return phone calls and email responses.

We hope you enjoy some much deserved time off and come back to the studio refreshed and ready to finish out our year together strong!

Family Observation Week

Family Observation Week: April 25 - 30, 2022

Family Observation Week returns this spring and we look forward to hosting families in person at the Center for Dance! Classes will be open for 2 guests per student to join us in the studio to observe.

Children's Division, Community Division, and elective classes which meet once per week will each be open for observation. Families in our Preparatory, Young Dancer, and Advanced Divisions will have select class options to choose from.

Specific details for each division and track will be sent later this month.

Spring Production

Spring Production preparations are underway in classes! We can’t wait for you to see your dancers on stage next month, May 27-28, 2022, at the School for Creative and Performing Arts.

This week, you can expect a major Spring Production update in your inbox, including the following topics:

Performer Information
Participant rehearsal schedules, costume details, a breakdown of our Children's Division classes, performance photo and video details, and more.

Tickets
Spring Production tickets will go on sale this Wednesday, April 6th!

T-Shirts
Our Spring Production t-shirts will be available for pre-order this Wednesday, April 6th!

Volunteer information for parents and guardians to help during theater week rehearsals and the performances will come later this month.

Youth Summer Programs

Registration is open for Youth Summer Intensive, Summer Dance Workshop, and Kids Dance Camp, but all of these programs are now on public sale and are filling quickly!

We'd love to continue dancing with you this summer and encourage you to register soon before it's too late. Placement and registration letters for Youth Summer Intensive and Summer Dance Workshop were sent to eligible students in early March.

Community Division Showcase

Congratulations to all who performed in our first Community Division Showcase this past weekend! We loved the opportunity to see students shine in such a range of styles, from jazz to street dance to musical theater to contemporary, and to spotlight our CB Moves dancers and emerging choreographic voices. As the Academy continues to expand its offerings in unique dance styles through the Community Division, we look forward to continuing this tradition in years to come.

Youth America Grand Prix

This winter, 13 Academy students competed in Youth America Grand Prix, an international student ballet competition and scholarship program. These dancers (from our Young Dancer, Advanced, and Professional Training Divisions) spent the fall and winter months preparing for YAGP in rehearsals with Academy faculty. We’re incredibly proud of each and every one of them for representing our Academy well on such a prestigious stage!

We hope you’ll join us in recognizing the following students:
Mollie Berk, Ariana Bridges, Charis Brooks, Brinkli Cox, Kalyn Devlin-Bergman, Lulu Frodge, Angelia Lane, Amanda McCrary, Claire Sturgeon, Emma Tardivon, Amber White, Alexandria Yetter, and Eloise Young.

Adult Dance + Fitness

We hope some of our Academy parents have had a chance to try out our newest Barre Fitness classes in our Adult Dance + Fitness Division! Beginning the week of April 18th, we'll be adding a few new cardio-focused Barre classes to our regular offerings.

On Stage: Snow White

Who’s the “fairest of them all?” Find out this season in a regional premiere of our Family Series: Snow White. It’s the treasured fairy tale of a jealous Queen, her beautiful stepdaughter, and a kiss from a handsome Prince. Snow White is just over an hour long, narrated, fun, fully-staged ballet, featuring Cincinnati Ballet Second Company – CB2 dancers, Professional Training Division dancers, and Otto M. Budig Academy students, and all performances will include ASL interpretation. It’s the perfect introduction to dance, even for the youngest members of your family.
