Hey Everyone!

Christmas is fast approaching and we have some exciting events and opportunities in our latest newsletter is below. Check out our handpicked opportunities, resources and events for you to look at. Make sure you check the deadlines as some are fast approaching!

Our wonderful cover photo features Maria Chiara Argiro from the experimental jazz duo Moonfish.  Taken from October's From the Glasshouse collaboration with Jazz North East - keep your eyes peeled on our socials for the release of our videos from the show.

Come and join us this December for our next From the Glasshouse gig. A festive celebration you are all invited to!  The tickets are on a  'pay what you decide' basis and we would love to see you there.  The show will be a  warming local line up with Steff Mundi, Lovely Assistant and The Early Purple -  cosy, atmospheric matched with a warm mulled wine.   Click the link in the last part of our newsletter for tickets.

Before we leave you with our newsletter we have a really small favour to ask that will have a huge impact!

At The Glasshouse we believe every child should have the chance to take part in experiences of dancing, singing, making music, art and theatre throughout their school lives, because the arts inspire creativity, enable learning, build skills and support wellbeing. We also believe that the creative arts will power the UK’s innovation, growth and global role in the 21st century. But change needs to happen. We’re working with a group of organisations to petition the government to make changes to the national curriculum, to include more creative subjects. We think it will make a big difference if musicians are in support of this.  We wanted to get in touch to ask if you would get behind this by adding your name to the form in the link below:

The Neuroscience of Music Workshop with Prof. Lauren Stewart

graphic of illustrated head with a turntable arm and record as a headphone

Curious about how we perceive and process music? Across every culture, music has been a profound part of human experience, shaping our emotions, identities, and social connections. From early infancy, our ability to respond to musical sounds, like a caregiver’s sing-song voice, helps us engage in playful interactions. As we grow, music becomes a key part of who we are, influencing our cultural and emotional worlds.

Join Professor Lauren Stewart in this enlightening workshop, where she will dive into the sophisticated way we acquire musical perception just by being exposed to the music of our own culture. Whether it's exploring the experience of those with ‘congenital amusia’ (who have difficulty processing music) or understanding phenomena like musical earworms and hallucinations, we’ll uncover what these experiences reveal about the brain’s relationship with music.
