Starting at the end of this month, the Eisemann Center welcomes this year’s Cottonwood Art Festival’s Emerging Artists! Each year, the international award-winning fine art festival offers a unique experience for local, hand-selected Senior High School age artists. The Emerging Artist Program gives students the opportunity to exhibit their work at the Eisemann Center, sell their work at the Cottonwood Art Festival alongside professional and renowned artists, and earn placement awards and scholarship money for their continued education. The program was created to recognize the talent of young artists in our community and grant them a respectable introduction to the industry, giving them a taste of the experience of a career artist.
This year is the 20th year of the program. In this combination of art and education, students are encouraged to express and push themselves creatively and learn the process of exhibiting. Interested students must develop an art concept, an artist statement, and produce images of their work to be reviewed by their art teacher and submitted to the Cottonwood Festival jury to be considered.
This year’s Emerging Artists are Adam Teffera and Sidra Siddiqui of Berkner High School, Alexis Dickson, Esmerelda Hernandez, and Yaritza Pena of Richardson High School, and Baylee Cantrell, Emily Stansfield, Helen Levy, Julia Casales, Miranda Torres, and Skylar Caldwell of J.J. Pearce High School.
The Cottonwood Art Festival will be taking place May 6 & 7 at Cottonwood Park, located at 1321 W. Beltline Rd. in Richardson, Texas. For more information about the festival, please visit CottonwoodArtFestival.com.
