Hi Everyone and Welcome our latest New Works Newsletter.


We’re working hard on our Spring plans and hoping for some good news in March when there will be a review of current Government restrictions.

Updates

• We have opened recruitment for a new Creative Director to lead on the artistic and creative output of the Everyman & Playhouse. We want to encourage applications from a wide range of people and only require a CV for the initial application round. Check out our website here.

Notices and Opportunities

• Community, Equality and Disability Action (CEDA) online are offering 2x £500 micro-commissions for d/Deaf and disabled artists of all disciplines to create new work to be profiled online, responding to the theme 'reimagining the normal'. For more information follow the link here. Deadline: 5 February


• Homotopia Festival's Open call and Artist Development Programme is now open. They are asking that submissions for the Open call be fully formed and from theatre makers and producers, visual artists and performance artists who identify as LGBTQIA. The Artist Development programme is open to early-career artists and runs for 12 months. For more information about the Open Call, follow the link here. • Experimentica live art festival in Cardiff has put a call out for artists. Commissions will be for £1000. They are looking for UK based artists whose practice, prior to COVID, focused on live art or contemporary performance. For more information follow the link here. Deadline: 23.59 Monday 1 February.


• The Bee Friendly Trust has launched a nationwide competition to create a unique sculpture to be fabricated and installed in London Bridge Station. It is to be made primarily of recycled materials and capture the essence of the honey bee. For more information follow the link here. Deadline for entries: 1 February.


• Without Walls have opened up their Discover Programme, aimed at artists and producers wanting to learn more about creating outdoor work. They consist of four sessions, throughout March. For more information and to register your interest, follow the link here. Deadline to apply: 5 February.


• Wild Rumpus have an open call for an artist/maker to design and create a large scale animal sculpture made from single use plastic bottles, to be displayed at Chester Zoo. Information about what is required of the artist and how to apply can be found here. Deadline: Friday 12 February.


• ArtCry is a new fund supporting urgent artistic responses to current social and political events. If you are an artist who makes political work or is interested in making social and politically aware work, you can find more information about the fund here.


• The Octagon Bolton are currently accepting script submissions, particularly from North West based writers. They must be completed scripts and not first drafts. For more information and how to submit, follow the link here. Deadline for submissions: 31 January.


• Liverpool Biennial 2021a-n The Artists Information Company and Open Culture are joining forces to offer five support and research bursaries of £1500 each for artists between March – June 2021, within the 11th edition of Liverpool Biennial. In order to apply you will need to become an a-n Artist or Joint (Artist and Arts Organiser) member. To find out how to join and or submit, follow the link here. Deadline: 12 noon, Friday 12 February.


• Physical theatre company The Pappy Show are accepting applications for their mentoring programme. Open to all creatives at the start of their career who feel they would benefit from professional guidance. For details and how to apply follow the link here. Deadline to apply: 6pm on Wednesday 3 February.


•  Free subtitling services are now available for small to medium sized cultural organisations, as well as for individual artists. More info here.


• Oldham Coliseum Theatre’s Micro Commissions 2021. Exploring themes of health and wellbeing, local stories or work for and with young people from Oldham, the Micro Commissions will be designed for audiences/participants to experience at home. Deadline: 31 January. More info here.


 Paperwork Theatre's teacup commission is open once again for Round 6, with the pot being raised to £200. More info here.


Freelancers in the Dark have launched a survey asking theatre freelancers to reflect on their personal experience of the pandemic. If you consider yourself a freelancer in theatre, the survey is now open here.

What's on

• A Lovely Word online is back for 2021 on Thursday 4 February with headliner Sam Grudgings and the usual open mic slots. Visit our homepage for more information and the sign up for a performance slot.


• TEDxLIPA is a free day of curated TEDx talks on Sunday 31 January. Featuring talks by creative innovators across technology, entertainment and design, you can find more information on this event here.
