Part of our mission at Hubbard Street is to identify and nurture new dancers and choreographers, and we’re grateful to work with an incredibly talented community of artists every day. This month especially, some congratulations are definitely in order.

Two of our artists were awarded fellowships from the Princess Grace Foundation–USA for 2016: Jeffery Duffy, for dance performance, and Penny Saunders, for her choreographic work with Seattle-based contemporary dance company Whim W’Him. Read more at the Chicago Sun-Times

• Elliot Hammans and Adrienne Lipson are the 15th and 16th dancers to be promoted from Hubbard Street 2 to the main company. Read more at Broadway World

• Joining Hubbard Street 2 for its fall 2016 creations and touring are Wilson S.D. Anderson III, Isaac Aoki, Nicole Ishimaru, Andy Lawson, returning member Natalie LeibertYue Ru Ma, and HS2 Apprentice Parker Finley. Warm welcomes to all!

• Peter Chu and Alice Klock have been named the 46th and 47th choreographers to be invited to create new works through our International Commissioning Project. Peter Chu’s IC Project–supported creation will be premiered by Hubbard Street 2 at the Velodrom Theater in Regensburg, Germany in November 2016; Alice Klock’s IC Project–supported creation will be developed by Hubbard Street 2 and receive its premiere as part of the 25th anniversary season of UNCW Presents at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, in advance of performances by the main company during the third danc(e)volve: New Works Festival May 10–14, 2017 at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago.
