Your AGA is now 100!

Thank you to everyone who submitted their art - the AGA100 Free for All Anniversary wall is now up in our Main Hall! Get a look at the work of talented artists in our community – our Main Hall is always free to visit.

Call for Submissions: Indigenous Arts Market

Important news: The deadline to apply for the Indigenous Arts Market has been extended to August 29! If you are an Indigenous artist in Alberta, you could present your work at the AGA in the middle of the busy Arts District on September 21 and 22! This market is presented by Canadian Western Bank.

Seniors' Tour

August 23, 2-3pm

Join us for a casual walk through our current exhibition AGA100: Act 2 Landscape to Land Use. Explore themes of time, such as seasons, history, generations, the future as well as multiple views of Alberta landscapes and the human impact we’ve had on it. 

Stroller Tour

August 28, 11am-12pm

Calling new parents – this is the tour series for you. Meet other parents, engage in baby plat and enjoy added flexibility  to attend to your little one.

This tour is included in admission.


Free Admission

August 29, 4-7pm

Join us at the gallery during our free admission hours. Explore our exhibitions, shopAGA and an embroidery demonstration by fibre artist Carley Pettitt. 

Cinema For Seniors

September 13, 2-4pm

Explore the work of portrait photographer Elsa Dorfman in The B-Side: Elsa Dorfman’s Portrait Photography (2017). After the film, enjoy refreshments and a lively discussion!

Tours for Tots

Every Wednesday, 10-11am

Join us for this weekly art exploration for children ages 3-5 and their parents, consisting of playful activities, whimsical storytelling and hands-on art-making.

Adult Open Studio

Every Thursday, 7-9pm

Adult Open Studio classes are casual, social drop-in art workshops offered weekly, featuring a new project and theme connected to current exhibitions.

September 4: Seasons Change

New Opportunity: TD Curator of Indigenous Creativity

There’s a new position available on the AGA team  - TD Curator of Indigenous Creativity! This new full-time, 2-year position is supported by TD's Ready Commitment funding initiative. This funding will support the creativity and growth of the successful candidate's curatorial practice, amplifying the voices of Indigenous artists and celebrating the creativity of Indigenous communities.

The successful candidate will initiate and collaborate on new exhibition development, collections acquisitions and animation, public programming, and community engagement in partnership with artists, colleagues and organizations across Canada, in support of Indigenous creativity.

The Art Gallery of Alberta respectfully acknowledges that we are located in Treaty 6 Territory and Region 4 of the Metis Nation of Alberta. We respect this as the traditional and contemporary  land of diverse Indigenous Peoples including the Plains Cree, Woodland Cree, Beaver Cree, Nitsitapi/Blackfoot, Métis, Nakota Sioux, Anishinaabe/Saulteaux/Ojibwe and Dene Peoples. We also acknowledge the many Indigenous, Inuit and Métis people who make Alberta their home today.
