Wine for the Holiday Season
This year's wildfires were devastating to many, and we at Montalvo have been heartbroken to learn of the impact the fires have caused to some of our dear friends in the wine industry. In recent years, several wineries have been incredibly generous, not only as participants in our annual Food & Wine Classic, but also by providing donated or discounted bottles of wine to us for so many of our programs, from concerts to donor events, festivals to catered meals, and more.
This holiday season, we urge you to support these community-minded wineries by buying a bottle — or a case! — to enjoy with your own meals, or to give as gifts to friends and family. In a difficult year, help us celebrate the friendships that have helped see us through to the other side.

Big Basin Vineyards
Big Basin Vineyards is terraced into a steep hillside first planted to grapevines by French immigrants more than 100 years ago. Our estate and our carefully selected partner vineyards are all located at sites in the Santa Cruz and Gabilan Mountains that are as beautiful as they are exceptional for grape growing. We farm organically, time our harvests to capture intensity and elegance, and practice minimal-intervention winemaking. Our goal is to produce aromatic and ethereal wines that transparently and authentically express terroir and variety.

Cooper-Garrod Estate Vineyards
Cooper-Garrod Estate Vineyards produces wine from 28 acres of CCOF Certified Organic vineyard on Saratoga hillsides farmed by the family since 1893. Five generations have supported their hometown through the years! This CCSW Certified Sustainable Vineyards and Winery offers delicious 100% varietal wines – Chardonnay, Viognier, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon, as well as the popular series of Test Pilot blends. The working ranch is “A Destination Worth Knowing,” with wine tasting daily by reservation on the outdoor patio. Porch-side pick up is available, or “Ship-to-Your-List.”  Complimentary shipping on 6+ bottles within California or 12+ bottles to all other states they ship.

J. Lohr Vineyards & Wines
Rooted in a shared celebration of the local San Jose community, Villa Montalvo and J. Lohr Vineyards & Wines have partnered on numerous events and cultural programs over the years. Aligned with sustainable values, J. Lohr’s focus on achieving the best possible flavors begins with careful stewardship of the land. J. Lohr’s commitment to sustainability extends to every facet of the local family-owned and operated business. In 2020, J. Lohr Vineyards & Wines was the recipient of the Green Medal Leader Award. This is the highest accolade awarded in sustainability to any California winery.

Kathryn Kennedy Winery
Founded in 1979, family-owned Kathryn Kennedy Winery is best known for Cabernet wines “capable of achieving world class quality with age,” and their exceptional Sauvignon Blanc and Sparkling Wine. In 2007, winemaker and youngest son of Kathryn Kennedy, Marty Mathis transformed the Estate Vineyard to Certified Organic Status by CCOF. A partial list of the good stewardship practices includes, onsite composting, no weed killer chemicals, use of recycled package materials, cover crops and biodiversity plantings, bird boxes and biodiesel tractors.

Left Bend Winery
Winemaker and avid cyclist Gary Robinson founded Left Bend Winery “to produce distinctive wines from the many small mountain vineyards scattered throughout the Santa Cruz Mountains.” After retiring from a high-tech career in Silicon Valley, Richard Hanke, a fellow cyclist and wine enthusiast, joined Robinson in 2003 to grow the Left Bend Winery brand. Today, Left Bend offers a popular variety of prestigious wines: Riesling (Redwing Vineyard), Syrah-Cabernet Sauvignon blend & Cabernet Sauvignon (Fellom Ranch), and Pinot Noir (Muns Vineyard).
