HoMA Shop celebrates end of 2025 with big savings and welcomes 2026 with Fukubukuro bags
Museum shops are the place to find meaningful gifts and support local artists and designers; sale starts Dec. 26
HONOLULU, HAWAI‘I—The Honolulu Museum of Art Shop rings in the new year with its biggest sale of the season. From Dec. 26 through Jan. 18, guests can enjoy 40% to 75% off storewide on a thoughtfully curated selection of books, stationery, home décor, jewelry, accessories and more. It’s the perfect time for people to discover artful gifts—or to treat themselves—for less.
Items include stemless wine glasses; Swedish dishcloths; mugs; crystal bracelets; tote bags featuring artwork by Hokusai, David Hockney, and Mary Cassatt; art books such as A History of Pictures: From the Cave to the Computer Screen by David Hockney and Martin Gayford, Then and Now: A Retrospective of Charles E. Higa, and Lei Aloha; pop-up Monet greeting cards; assorted notepads; origami kits; and assorted boxed notecards by Pomegranate.

On Jan. 2, the HoMA Shop celebrates the start of 2026 with Fukubukuro (good fortune bags), the Japanese new year tradition of offering a mystery mix of merchandise at a discounted price. HoMA offers three different bags to meet every budget—$20 (a $40 retail value), $35 ($70 retail value) and $50 ($100 retail value). They will be available while supplies last.
“We curated artful ranges of items that are sure to please every taste and pocketbook,” says HoMA head of retail Courtney Hennessey. “In addition to being great deals, our Fukubukuro and sale items are a way to give back to the community—all proceeds from purchases at the HoMA Shop directly support programs and exhibitions at the museum.”
The HoMA Shop, with its specialty, mission-related products, offers the public the opportunity to shop with purpose. Hennessey and her team carefully select products that reflect the museum’s mission to build community, promote learning and inspire harmony and global connection. Many items featured are created and supplied by local artisans, designers, manufacturers and other small makers. When people make a purchase from the HoMA Shop, they are also supporting local, regional and national businesses.
