Friends of the Museum put on a fundraiser every fall called “Harvest Supper.” This fundraiser was created 10 years ago by the board, chaired by Dorothy Howorth, with the
purpose of raising funds to support the University’s Museum and its
historic homes, Rowan Oak and The Walton-Young House. These funds are used in the areas of education, collections and acquisitions, and for numerous MORE…

artwork for auction as a part of its annual Harvest Supper fundraiser.

Greetings, everyone, and welcome from your University of Mississippi Museum and William Faulkner’s Rowan Oak. As I write these words, since our last monthly newsletter we’ve had both a calendar and a climatic seasonal shift to Fall — always such a delight to experience for a Minnesota born-and-raised kid who is hardwired for the colder days and nights soon upon us. communally, that represents family, region, and the love of its maker/s.

COVID-19 STATUS UPDATE
The University of Mississippi Museum and Historic Houses is committed to the safety of our visitors and staff through these uncertain times.
Until further notice from the University, the Chancellor announced this update to campus protocols on 8/5/21:
“To align with the CDC and the directive from MSDH stating, “that masks be worn universally indoors for all students, faculty, staff, and visitors, regardless of vaccination status. Due to the prevalence of the highly transmissible Delta Variant, masks must be worn in all indoor facilities to mitigate the risk of infection at this time” the university is implementing the following update to campus protocols:
Effective immediately, (8/5/21) the University will require face coverings in indoor public spaces on campus, regardless of vaccination status. This includes public office spaces, classrooms, conference rooms and other academic spaces like laboratories and libraries. Additionally, masks will be required while traversing public spaces in residence halls, dining facilities, the Student Union, Campus Rec, and retail spaces.”

BAILEY WOODS
Even though both Rowan Oak and the University Museum are currently closed to the public, the Bailey Woods Trail remains open from dawn until dusk daily. We ask that all trail visitors practice appropriate social distancing while enjoying this National Recreation Trail, which connects the two sites.

The Beautiful Mysterious: The Extraordinary Gaze of William Eggleston, co-published by the University Museum and University Press of Mississippi, is an examination of the life and work of William Eggleston.
