2022-2023 Academy Year

As the 2021-2022 Academy Year winds down, we’ve got our eyes on the future. Our team is hard at work putting together next year’s schedule and we look forward to dancing with you again next season. We have some exciting opportunities coming up in the year ahead you won’t want to miss!

Priority Registration
All current Academy families receive exclusive priority access to registration for the upcoming Academy Year. We anticipate opening in the second half of May (a bit earlier than usual!) and will be in touch with further details in the coming weeks.

Placement and Evaluations
Students in the Preparatory, Young Dancer, and Advanced Divisions will receive their 2022-2023 placements as part of their year-end evaluations this month. Children’s Division placement will be shared at the opening of priority registration.

New Student Interest
At the conclusion of priority registration, open enrollment will begin for the general public. If you know any new families eager to join the Academy for our upcoming 2022-2023 year, we encourage them to visit our website to complete a new student inquiry so we can work with them on placement and keep them updated on next steps.

Youth Summer Programs

With temperatures heating up, summer feels closer than ever. Registration is open NOW for Youth Summer Intensive and Summer Dance Workshop. Our students work so hard during the Academy year, and summer is a great opportunity to reinforce and advance their dance training—while having fun with friends in the studio!

Youth Summer Intensive is offered in two-week or four-week sessions in three unique divisions, June 20-July 1 and July 11-22.

Summer Dance Workshop is offered in one-week sessions, June 6-10, June 13-17, and August 1-5.

Placement letters with registration instructions were sent via email to eligible Academy students in early March. Enrollment is now open to the general public, as well, but it’s not too late to secure your space for summer 2022. Click the links below today to register.

Professional Training Division Showcase

This year, our Professional Training Division spring showcase will be a part of Cincinnati Ballet’s brand new Bold Moves Festival. On May 15 at 6:30 PM at the Aronoff’s Jarson-Kaplan Theater, they’ll present contemporary and classical repertoire, including Valse Fantaisie, selections from Don Quixote and more. We’re thrilled these talented young dancers get a much deserved opportunity to perform for our broader Cincinnati community, and we hope to see some of you there. The PTD Showcase is available as an add-on to a festival package (at a reduced price!) or as a stand-alone ticket.

CB Moves Family Dance Days

CB Moves is designed to foster a love of dance and creative expression for individuals with specific needs. This summer, we’re excited to offer several Family Dance Days, an opportunity for current CB Moves participants to stay engaged over the summer and for newly interested families to try out this program in a fun environment. Family Dance Days are designed for a student and an adult to dance together and will be led by our excellent team of CB Moves faculty. We hope you’ll join us to explore the rich benefits of movement, music and a highly engaged student community!

Adult Weekend Intensive

After a few years’ hiatus, Adult Weekend Intensive is BACK for summer 2022! This three-day program (August 5-7) is sure to keep you fit this summer while exploring new dance styles in a fun and supportive space. In just a short time, you’ll hone your technique while expanding your horizons with a community of fellow dancers and artists. This intensive is open to adult dancers ages 18 and above of varying experience levels, and we’d love to see some Academy parents/guardians, alumni, and more in the studio this summer. Registration is open now!

Ballet Foundations Graduation

Since January, our 38 Ballet Foundations students have met weekly to immerse themselves in ballet technique while sampling additional dance styles including modern, street dance, and musical theater. We’re so proud of their hard work this spring and look forward to celebrating their passion and aptitude for dance at a graduation ceremony on May 15 at the Center for Dance. Please join us in congratulating these talented students!

The second program will include performances from AXIS Dance Company and Dayton Contemporary Dance Company. Continuing our commitment to female choreographers, these programs will feature the regional premiere of Helen Pickett’s Petal, as well as the return of Twyla Tharp’s Nine Sinatra Songs and audience favorite, Victoria Morgan’s Boléro.
