Nita Patel is an artist with a unique background. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Texas at Dallas followed by a Masters of Liberal Arts in Extension Studies specializing in Industrial Organizational Psychology. Her art has been shown in NYC, the Hamptons, Art Basel Miami Beach, Museo MIIT in Turino, Italy, and Le Louvre in Paris, France.

"My passion and my professional development have inspired me to create a concept that integrates creative expression with wellness in the workplace. By strategically placing color therapy through art an environment can enable self-healing and uplift moods, contributing to high performance. Through my work, I aspire to uplift my fellow human beings one person at a time. This creates a domino effect impacting the world in a positive light."

Nita's "Opal Series" explores the brilliance and variety of color seen in the opal gemstone. It features 3-demensional textures using multiple paint layers reflecting the natural phenomenon known as play-of-color seen within the gem. This series reveals opal is an analogy to the human mind.

The other half of the collection asks us to look beyond our personal limitations tethered to the Earth and look toward the celestial bodies of outer space for inspiration. Using spiraling strokes, the artists pays homage to the movement of the Milky Way. She invites the viewer to slow down, take a breath, and imagine the infinite possibilities of space and stimulate personal growth in a moment of mindfulness.

A First Fridays reception is scheduled for March 1st from 6:00 to 8:00 PM in the Green Mezzanine Gallery. Enjoy lite bites and wander the gallery with your fellow local art lovers!
