Tickets are going fast for next week's co-production of the IVCI and American Piano Awards, featuring 2022 Gold Medalist Sirena Huang and 2017 American Piano Awards winner Drew Petersen.
The duo will perform Beethoven’s Sonata No. 5 (“Spring”) and Gabriela Lena Frank’s Sueños de Chambi: Snapshots for an Andean Album. Each artist will also present solo works: John Adams’ Phrygian Gates for piano, and the world premiere of Sirens and Cathedral for solo violin by Daniel Bernard Roumain (“DBR”), a work commissioned by the IVCI and Huang.
According to the Roumain, the sirens sound urgent moral alarms in a numbed society, while the cathedral offers a shared space of return and reflection where listening becomes an act of repair, renewal and collective hope. The work is dedicated and written for Sirena. Learn more about DBR here.

2006 Gold Medalist Augustin Hadelich has been named the Mahler Chamber Orchestra’s new Artistic Partner, beginning a multi-year collaboration in 2027. The partnership will include a major project to be announced this spring, along with additional artistic initiatives developed jointly by Hadelich and the orchestra. Their work together will open with a cycle of Mozart’s violin concertos and continue through international tours.
Hadelich first performed with the MCO at the Salzburg Easter Festival in 2025 and was inspired by the ensemble’s sound and musicianship. The announcement comes as the MCO prepares to celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2027, marking the milestone year with Hadelich in this new role.
Congratulations Augustin!
