Artist Brandon O'Neill in an art vendor booth

For the month of January, we welcome Brandon O'Neill to the Green-Mezzanine Gallery!

Brandon O’Neill is a Richardson based mixed-media artist known for large-scale Rubik’s Cube mosaic portraits. He is currently the only known artist to break into this higher order medium using the 5×5 “Professor’s Cube” as a primary canvas. This approach allows for a level of color density and visual resolution that shifts the genre.

By moving from the traditional 3×3 cube to the 5×5, Brandon works within a combinatorial space that expands to over 280 trevigintillion possibilities. A leap so large it defies known comparisons. Brandon’s mosaics are assembled by hand, cube by cube, tile by tile, face by face. From a distance, the work reads as a unified portrait; up close, it reveals a complex field of decisions.

"By embracing this complexity, I’m not just creating a more detailed image; I’m inviting viewers to see how structure and possibility can transform a familiar object into something entirely new. It’s a meditation on how increasing resolution can reveal new truths, both in art and in how we see the world." - Brandon O'Neill

A "First Fridays" reception has been scheduled for Friday, January 2. Join us for light bites and meet the artist from 6-8 PM on the second floor of the Eisemann Center lobby.

The gallery is free to view and open to the public every Monday through Saturday from 10am to 6pm and during all public events.
