Summer Program Auditions

With the summer intensive audition season just around the corner, the Otto M. Budig Academy team has been hard at work designing unique opportunities that allow students to safely audition for summer programs while remaining close to home.    

For students interested in Cincinnati Ballet summer programs:  

This season, Otto M. Budig Academy students interested in attending Cincinnati Ballet's Summer Intensive do not need to audition. Acceptance and registration information for eligible students will be sent to you directly in late December.

For students interested in auditioning for national summer programs:

This winter, the Academy is proud to join the National Summer Intensive Audition Tour. The NSIA Tour represents professional ballet schools from across the nation who have come together to create a unified collective. With one audition, students will be considered for acceptance to 13 elite-level summer intensive programs. To participate, students choose a city from the audition schedule and register with the host school. The audition is in-person, and the remaining schools will observe the audition via Zoom. 

Do you have friends and family interested in joining the Academy? With COVID-19 safety precautions a top priority, we're offering a series of FREE virtual trial classes to prospective students ages 2 through 7. It’s not too late sign up!

The Parents Association invites you to join in for the launch of its first book club! This book club will engage in dance-specific content and offers opportunity for parents to expand their knowledge as they support their young dancers' pursuits. The club will launch with Nutcracker Nation by Jennifer Fisher and will meet via Zoom in mid- to late January. You can find Nutcracker Nation at your local library, book store or on Amazon.  

With winter weather upon us once again, it’s time for a refresher on how the Academy communicates about severe weather or other unexpected events. You can find weather-related class updates via the following channels:

Should severe weather occur or be imminent, we encourage you to check in frequently throughout the day, as class status may change pending information from our trusted sources. If the Academy ever remains open during winter weather and you feel it is unsafe to send your student, please contact us through the usual attendance reporting channels, and your student's absence will be excused.

While we may not be able to gather in theaters this season, we're delighted to share The Nutcracker at Home virtually with you. The holidays wouldn't be the same without Clara and her Nutcracker Prince and you can revel in their journey to the Land of Sweets from the comfort of your living room this December!
