An exclusive first look at CAC's newest exhibit
The CAC's upcoming exhibition, Energy Revolution, demonstrates how we can actively respond to the climate crisis by transforming our use of energy in the built environment. This exhibition highlights the ways individuals, corporations and city leaders can work toward a carbon-free future. Learn how architects, engineers, urban planners, product manufacturers and everyday citizens are already shaping the next generation of cities. Below are a few of many enlightening takeaways explored in detail in the show.
This exhibition is made possible by generous support provided by our presenting sponsors:
The Girls Build! program is excited to officially relocate to SR Crown Hall on the campus of IIT this spring! Our next camp aligns with Chicago Public Schools Spring Break from Monday, April 11–Thursday, April 14.
The relationship between climate change and architecture is an urgent conversation happening all over the world. In this week-long camp, designed for girls ages 11-14, campers will learn about responsibly and ethically sourced materials as we plan, design and build a model of a sustainable treehouse. The week will include a field trip to an architecture firm, a climate change exhibit and access to female design professionals.
Our annual Engineering Fest (E-Fest) is back in person this year! Join us on Saturday, May 28 from 10:00am-3:00pm for a day of discovery, as children ages 8-14 are invited to build and learn, view two floors of exhibits, meet engineers and explore how architecture and engineering partner to create the cities we know and love.
This International Women's Day, we are excited to highlight our Girls Build! Spring cohort. Girls Build! is a unique experiential program that introduces girls ages 11-14 to the world of design and architecture.
During the 6-week Girls Build! Spring 2022 session, Taking Up Space, 18 participants learned about interior design, space planning and the design process. The session culminated in a special showcase on Sunday, March 6 at the CAC. A full house joined us to see the students' thoughtful redesigns of the client's lobby at River North Counseling Group. Each student presented their drafted floor plan and materials design board to friends, family and a representative from our client.
The showcase celebrated student accomplishments, from consulting with our client to exploring the showrooms of 3form and Herman Miller and learning from designer Bobby Berk.
