WordFly Infrastructure Upgrade 2020 -- 1 of 5

June 25, 2020

Important Technology Announcement

Big changes are happening behind the scenes.

We’re excited to announce significant updates to the WordFly technology infrastructure. This is the first of five emails explaining how these updates will affect your use of WordFly.

After months of careful planning and preparation, we’re just weeks away from a major infrastructure update. These upgrades will provide you with a faster, more reliable experience and a solid foundation on which we can create innovative new features and support your growth.

You may not notice much right away, but this update lays the groundwork for exciting things to come. For now, please make note of the important upcoming changes and dates.

Required Downtime

This update requires 24 hours of scheduled downtime
beginning at 12am PDT, Saturday, July 25th.
View in your time zone

     During this time:

  • Users will not be able to log in.
  • Scheduled and automated campaigns will not send. Lists will not import.
  • Data will not sync to CRMs.
  • Email, survey, and RSVP responses will be queued and returned to WordFly after the downtime.
  • New email subscribers will be queued and returned to WordFly after the downtime.
  • Previously sent campaigns will work as expected. Links will redirect, images will load, and archive URLs will work.

Required Firewall Updates

Your IT team will need to update your firewall configurations to allow requests from the new environment.

After July 26, API requests from WordFly to your CRM will originate from 52.124.61.0/24. We recommend putting these new rules in place as soon as possible to give us time to test them prior to the migration. Without these updates, communication between WordFly and your CRM API will be broken.

You’ll need to leave the existing rules in place to continue allowing access from the current environment until the migration is complete.

New Sending IP Address

All WordFly customers will be assigned a new sending IP in mid-July.

You will need to safelist and warm up your new IP address, regardless of whether you are using a shared or paid dedicated IP. Neglecting to warm up your IP address can lead to sender reputation and deliverability issues. You will receive instructions in a few weeks about your new IP address and how to prepare it for sending.

Next Steps

#1 // Ask your IT team to update your firewall configuration

#2 // Prepare your organization and communications calendar

  • WordFly will be offline for 24 hours on July 25th, beginning at 12am PDT
  • Plan to pause any automated campaigns before the downtime, so that you can manually control when they resume sending

#3 // Watch for the next email from us in a few weeks

  • This will contain your new IP address, as well as instructions for safelisting and creating an IP warmup plan.

We’ll be sending several reminders ahead of the scheduled downtime. As always, if you have any questions, please get in touch.

Sincerely,

The WordFly Team
