Notes for Peace
In partnership with Purpose Over Pain, the Notes for Peace program uses the therapeutic power of music to support Chicago families who have lost loved ones to gun violence. With guidance from Civic Orchestra Fellows, guest teaching artists from the U.K.-based Irene Taylor Trust and professional vocalists, participants create original songs of tribute that are professionally recorded and performed live.
Tickets are free; reservations required.

James Reese Europe: From the Dancehall to the Battlefield
Pianist-composer Jason Moran honors James Reese Europe, a groundbreaking WWI-era musician who was celebrated equally in the dancehall and on the battlefield.

The AAN’s 2024/25 Season is the most exhilarating yet, with 12 captivating concerts across classical, jazz, new music and beyond. Among the conductors, composers, musicians and artists featured this season are Daniel Bernard Roumain (DBR), Cécile McLorin Salvant and Florence Price.
The season also includes a family-friendly concert: Community Pride on Saturday, May 3 — an opportunity for the whole family to create lasting memories. Plus, AAN networking receptions are the perfect chance to mingle and connect with fellow music enthusiasts and support Black artists.
