- "Walking out the Dark" is Ron K. Brown's only quartet work
- It was created after Brown's first visit to Cuba back in 2000
- It is a danced conversation between mother, father, brother, sister, lover, friend
- It was originally commissioned to open the Dance Theater Workshop now New York Live Arts' newly renovated space
- Features music by Sweet Honey in the Rock, Ballet Folklorico Cutumba de Santiago and vocalist Philip Hamilton (a former featured soloist with Pat Metheny)
