Oakland-based trumpet star and Blue Note recording artist Ambrose Akinmusire performs a 4-night residency at the SFJAZZ Center. The first two concerts, titled "Porter" (Mar 3-4) pay tribute to legendary Bay Area musicians that helped mentor him, featuring a 30-piece orchestra and a superb quartet including piano master Gerald Clayton, bassist Marcus Shelby, and the phenomenal Oakland-born drummer Savannah Harris.

The next two nights premiere a brand new project "Owl Song" (Mar 5-6) featuring guitar pioneer Bill Frisell and the grooving New Orleans drummer Herlin Riley.

During this broadcast, we encourage everyone to donate generously to the DakhaBrakha Fund, with 100% of the proceeds going directly to the band, to be reallocated to their families as well as organizations aiding civilians in Ukraine.

Join celebrated women faculty in this special session for female jazz instrumentalists, vocalists, and budding sound engineers, ages 13-18. In addition to ensemble techniques and musicianship, the focus will highlight the intricate work that goes into engineering a live sound mix. Faculty from Women’s Audio Mission and Bay Area teaching artists join together in sharing the techniques of presenting a live jazz performance.

The annual KRONOS FESTIVAL returns in person to the SFJAZZ Center this April, presented by and featuring SF’s own world-renowned, Grammy-winning Kronos Quartet. Over 5 events in 3 days, experience the artistry and innovation of guest performers and composers representing 10 countries—including 5 world premieres and signature works from Kronos's far-reaching repertoire.

SFJAZZ requires proof of vaccination against COVID-19 prior to entering the SFJAZZ Center. All patrons must provide proof of having completed the initial course of vaccination, and a government issued photo ID to enter the SFJAZZ Center. (A student ID for people under the age of 18 is acceptable). Vaccination validation apps such as CommonPass and Clear, VaxYes are also accepted. Based on the updated requirements of the Department of Health, boosters are no longer required.

Masks are still required and must be worn at all times inside the SFJAZZ Center.
