Join us in celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Newhouse Architecture & Design Competition!

Did you know that early Newhouse judges featured some architecture legends? Jury participants included Diane Legge Kemp, the first female partner at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM); Robert Wesley, the first Black partner at SOM; and Adrian Smith, future architect of the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai.

CAC SUMMER CAMPS

Summer camps are back and selling out fast! Our camps provide hands-on exploration of the built environment for children ages 8-14. Under the guidance of our enthusiastic designers and educators, campers will solve design challenges and make models using drafting and art materials. Our camps inspire teamwork and creative problem-solving, help build self-confidence and visual thinking and provide opportunities to communicate ideas using a variety of media.

THE LATEST

UPDATED MASK POLICY

Effective Monday, February 28, masks will no longer be required for guests visiting the Center or on walking tours. We do suggest guests carry a mask with them as every interior visited has the option to require masks. Masks are required in the enclosed salon area onboard the vessels of Chicago’s First Lady Cruises but not in the outdoor seating space.

UPDATED CENTER INFORMATION

Beginning April 1, the Center will be open seven days a week from 10:00am-5:00pm. Please note that starting March 15, the second floor of the Center will be closed to the public to install the Energy Revolution exhibition, opening April 9. Center admission will be half-priced while the second floor is closed.
