Louisville Ballet is offering our Adaptive Dance Partners and Families early access to purchase tickets to our 2026 Sensory Friendly performance of The Brown-Forman Nutcracker

In collaboration with several community partners, Louisville Ballet has made appropriate accommodations to the performance and theater going experience to make individuals with sensory processing differences feel welcome.

PERFORMANCE DETAILS

DATE: Sunday, December 13, 2026
PERFORMANCE TIME: 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Join Louisville Ballet for a sensory friendly performance of The Brown-Forman Nutcracker. Audiences will delight in excerpts from both Act I and II, including Marie’s journey from the holiday party to the Land of the Sugar Plum Fairy, and experience this magical holiday tradition in an atmosphere that is specially designed to be comfortable, inclusive, and safe.

❄️ Doors to the building open at 10 a.m. for patrons to arrive with extra time to become familiar with the space. 

🎁 Doors to the theatre open at 10:30 a.m. (approximately) for patrons to select a seat that works best for their needs. 

👑 Dancers in costume will visit the lobby from approximately 10:15 - 10:45 a.m. for patrons to see details up close. Characters like The Nutcracker and Rats will have their headpieces off for patrons to see the dancer inside the costume. 


WHAT MAKES A PERFORMANCE SENSORY FRIENDLY?

  • Seating is general admission and not sold to capacity; therefore, audience members can select their own seats with room to move.
  • Patrons are allowed to move freely through the aisles during the performance.
  • Individuals are free to vocalize during the performance.
  • House lights remain on at low level during performance.
  • Some loud sounds or startling moments are omitted from the performance; others are signaled to the audience in advance. 
  • There is no live orchestra and recorded music is played at a controlled volume level.
  • Entering and exiting the theatre is allowed throughout the performance.
  • A quiet room at the back of the theater provides continued viewing away from the audience.
  • Additional quiet space is provided completely away from the theater.

    • Seating will be General Admission in your assigned level, based on your ticket purchase for orchestra, grand tier or balcony.
    • Tickets start at $20 in the balcony level.
