Everyman & Playhouse theatres
For Liverpool theatre makers

Thu 10 Sep 2020

Hi Everyone and Welcome our latest New Works Newsletter,

We hope you’re keeping well and safe, particularly in a world that is slowly coming back to life. We’ve been supporting more off site performances with A Lovely Word (watch the stream here) and Unusual Arts Sourcing Company. And have loved seeing some of the Without Walls commissions happening around the city.

In this email we have our usual updates, round up of some opportunities and some what’s on notices.

Remember you can email us at newworks@everymanplayhouse.com with your own updates to include, or with any questions you have for us.

Thank you and we hope to see you soon!

Frank (New Works Associate) & Ashlie (Programmer)

Updates

• Following announcements regarding social distancing and the uncertainty with regards when we can fill our auditoriums again, we have to make the difficult decision to postpone this year’s Everyman Rock ‘n’ Roll panto Robin Hood. You can read our full statement HERE.

• We have announced four Liverpool artists to receive small grants for local creative community projects. Our Theatre for Good scheme was created to support freelancers and help to continue creating work and cultural projects during Covid-19. Find out more about artists Gaia Ahuja, Ellis HowardAndrew McKay and Paislie Reid HERE.

• You may have seen reports from the Culture Secretary around reaching Stage Five of the culture reopening plans by Christmas. This was announced this week and, although we are cautiously optimistic, these plans won’t be confirmed until November. By which time we hope to have confirmed some exciting Christmas plans that will be Covid secure.

• Our four fantastic Freelance Taskforce reps have put together some useful mental health and wellbeing resources for freelancers. You can find these HERE on our website. George Francis, Brodie Arthur, Natasha Patel and Grace Goulding have finished their time representing E&P and working on supporting Liverpool freelancers. We want to give huge thanks to the team for their hard work. Freelancers are vital for the cultural ecology of the city, and we will be taking the important discussions forward to improve representation and support.
