IVCI welcomes Sean P. Dunlavy as its new Director of Development

We are extremely pleased to welcome Sean P. Dunlavy as our new Director of Development, succeeding our beloved Mary Jane Sorbera, who retired at the end of August after nearly two decades of service.

Sean brings deep philanthropic and nonprofit leadership experience, with past roles at the United Schools of Indianapolis, Indiana University's Lilly Family School of Philanthropy, and the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra.

“I am honored to join the International Violin Competition of Indianapolis as Director of Development,” says Dunlavy. “This competition has a remarkable legacy of celebrating artistic excellence and elevating the next generation of world-class musicians. I look forward to building meaningful partnerships and expanding support for this extraordinary organization so it can continue to inspire audiences and nurture talent on the global stage.”

Glen Kwok, IVCI Executive Director, added, "We are delighted to welcome Sean to the IVCI team. His significant and highly successful development experience in the Indianapolis community will be invaluable as we prepare for the 12th Quadrennial Competition next September and for decades beyond."

Sean began his position on Monday.

The 2026 Juried Exhibition of Student Art has expanded to Ohio

Calling all art teachers in Indiana and Ohio!

Since 1986, the Juried Exhibition of Student Art (JESA) has been one of Indiana's largest and most exciting art programs for art students in grades 1-12. Held alongside each quadrennial competition, JESA brings together the visual, literary and performing arts, with thousands of students participating. In 2026, JESA is expanding to Ohio for the first time, thanks to the Cynthia P. Matthews Family Foundation. With $18,000 in prizes per state and 30 Grand Award Winners selected in both Indiana and Ohio, young artists will see their work showcased during - and after - the Competition!
